Recently got in all my DIY supplies and loaded up E-juice me up calculator.

All my flavors are TFA

The ones i have mixed so far are vanilla swirl and mango.

Mango = 12% flavor
Vanilla swirl = 13% flavor

I mixed with 100mg 100% vg nicotine and pure VG.

Both bottles are 10 ml.

While both flavors are def vapeable, the flavors dont really "pop" out at me. They seem extremely muted. All i taste really is pure VG. I do get good vapor and throat hit however, I aimed to mix these at 6 mg nic.

So as i understand, ejuice me up for 10 ml @ 6mg nic with 1 flavor at 12 % would =

0.6 ml nicotine
7.4 ml VG
1.2 ml flavoring

which would end up with a 12pg / 88 vg ratio. The above is what I followed.

Should i try 20% flavor? or am I doing something wrong. These are freshly mixed so maybe steeping is required?

Well 2 things come to mind:
1. 100% VG is known to either mute flavors or take longer for the flavors to incorporate into the mix
2. I add 1 drop of lemon juice per 5ml of my fruit mixes to make them pop

Happy Holidays,
Steve

PS I sometimes give my juices a speed steep in a warm water bath (120F or less) for 30 minutes up to 3 times but letting them get back to room temperature between cycles if I'm not sure if I added enough flavor.
Good Luck :toast:

Give them a few days to steep and try them again. VG takes awhile to make friends with flavor. I wouldn't go up on the flavor percentage, most of the time less is more. Add too much and you get soap or no flavor at all.... I didn't get this concept at all until i tried it, and it worked. Start low... You can always add more if you need it. Taking flavor out while preserving nic level ...well, i don't want to even try that.

Look up Hoosier, and check out his blog posts. Not only is he a genius at diy but he's also.hysterical.

Edit: +1 for adding a drop of lemon juice! This works really really well for fruit flavors

so a little update, i just made another flavor. Watermelon @ 15% but this time i did 50/50 vgpg.

I can taste the flavor way more, but the odd thing that im getting now is some wierd peppery taste. The throat hit and vapor are still great, i just dont get where the pepper came from. its def not bad, just a slight undertone of something peppery. I doubt that PG alone could cause this, or am i wrong?

I could very well be the Nic. I read a very long thread on different Nics (125 pages) and some have what could best be described as a peppery taste. I guess if you really want to find out, you can try vaping a small amount of PG and then a small amount of PG mixed with your Nic unflavored (in your preferred concentration) and see when or if you get the taste. Process of elimination.

I'll take a look for the thread and add it to this post when I find it.

The pepper taste is most likely from your nicotine base. At least you don't taste fish...I have had nicotine base that tasted fishy....You might want to go with a cleaner nicotine base if the pepper bothers you. :)

oh one last question for you guys. Does it matter what order i mix the components in? I did nic first, then vg, then pg, then flavoring. Does it matter?

I don't see how it would, your mixing it all up really good together either way. I personally add the Nic last though. I sometimes make a few different batches (as many as 10) at the same time and wear gloves and eye protection when adding my Nic. I'll make up all my mixes, then when I'm satisfied with each one, I put on the gloves and glasses to add the Nic to each of the mixes.
