Madvapes flat center pin connectors

I order some connectors and I guess I didn't ready the fine print, assuming that they would be the same as I got before. These have a flat center pin with no cup for solder. Any ideas for soldering these other than just a flat .... connection?

Disassemble, tin the wire, get a bubble of solder on the flat end, stick the wire in the bubble. It's pretty much the same thing but will stick out farther and isn't so nicely contained in the cup. I usually file down the rest of the connector so I wouldn't really want the center post longer.
