Does anyone have any experience working with the sealed 501 battery connector from madvapes? It seems like the ideal solution to the juice leakage problem.

    Silver 510 Battery Connector, Sealed

I'm concerned about how well the silver material (coating?) accepts solder. Is it tough to work with because it's so small? Where does the air enter when the user inhales? Are those two slits on the rim the air intake?

Really, anything that anyone has to say about it would be helpful.

I've used the gold ones. Solder just fine. Air enters via the side slots (look at top lip - the slits that you mention - yes). The "sealed" part of the battery description refers to the fact that there are no through holes to the inside... for a flow switch.

Lot bigger than smd parts. lol.

If the connector has a through hole in the center connector, just fill it with solder. I solder them in place, don't remove and screw up the gasket. Try not to over heat, but do ensure you get a good solder joint.

    Good luck.

Definitely easier than smd but my concern about the size wasn't about ease of soldering. I was thinking that a small connector would be more difficult to physically mount to the case.

I have an M401 connector harvested from a passthrough and I have to be very careful to not solder the hole closed. If I do then there is zero draw. My M401 attys have very small slits in their base but the threads seem to restrict airflow completely. I made that mistake the first time I wired the connector. I connected a battery, filled with juice, was all ready for a nice vape...and it was like sucking on a pencil. Nothing. The thing was completely sealed. You know how tough it is to remove solder from a 1mm brass tube? :D

The PT i made i used a connector from a auto battery. I soldered the hole closed. It was a bit hard to draw on so what i did with a dremel cutting tool was make 4 more slits in the connector. For a total of 8 with the 4 that were already there. Hits great now and for sure easier then getting solder out of a 1mm hole.
