Magnets on batteries?

people do it all the time but it isnt recommended as if the magnet slides to the side it could create a short on the battery. but like a i said people are doing it all the time with no problems.

I can't imagine anything that would slide the magnet to the side except for a hard blow like your PV being dropped. I guess that's a good thing for me. Thanks for the straight answer. :)

Usually the pressure holding the battery to the contact is sufficient to hold the magnet there as well. I'd recommend using a pretty powerful magnet, like a rare earth, which also reduces the chances that it'll leave the metal contact area. And it's wise to check the magnet position if you drop your PV.

Other than that, using magnets to extend batteries is pretty safe. The electricity doesn't care if it's going through a magnet or just regular unmagnetized metal.
