I have a stingray clone from fasttech with the magnetic firing switch. How do you clean the black crap that builds up on the magnets?

I tried soapy water and alcohol. Nothing seems to get it off. I assume that it hurts conductivity and needs to be removed just can't figure out how to do it.

Thanks!

Sounds like you just need to clean the whole thing... Try soaking the mod in a solution of 91% alcohol. Seems to me that current is going through the magnets causing them to blacken. Not 100% sure about that but that's only thing I can think of. Have had a stingray for months and magnets are still silver.

Just polish the threads and all places where metal meets metal, especially in the top cap and the switch assy. That keeps the mod working correctly.
The magnets aren't part of the electrical circuit and will work the same whether you polish them or not. If the look of them bothers you, polish them too.
Be sure to wipe it all down with isopropyl when you're done. Good luck.

One magnet is screwed into a delrin piece that screws into the switch. In the middle of the switch there is a post that the other magnet screws into. When assembled the magnets are reverse polarity extending the throw of the switch. When you press the button I'm pretty sure the two magnets then touch (one touching the bottom of the battery the other the switch) completing the circuit.
