Wow, that's a beautiful piece of work. You say that was molded using PVC? Always wanted to try and work with the stuff but, not confident enough to work with something that's quite toxic when melted.

I'm a sculptor, so I'm working with polyurethane resin and using it for a mod, (really just a customized art influenced case)

Maybe one day you could elaborate on how to work with PVC in general?

er...no, i didn't say it was molded from PVC. i stated it was "hand fab'd, this time from PVC" (fab'd meaning fabricated). cut, shaped, assembled, et al.
(on an aside, TTBOMK, PVC only becomes toxic when heated to the point of giving off fumes (same goes for your polyurethane). softening PVC ,usually in hot oil but a heat gun is also common, is pretty much a common practice in industies that need to customize shapes in the field.
tubing and pipe can expanded, re-extruded, bent and unbent to suit the particular needs at hand).

this mod (case only) uses roughly 10" of PVC pipe and two 90° elbows. also, some acylic rod i had laying around and a 2"x1" piece of plastic from a computer case(again PVC i believe). my next one will forgo the acrylic.
if you take a closer look at the pic, it should be fairly evident as to how it was constructed

anyway... thank you for the kind words, everyone! i will get some more pics up eventually, promise!

cheers!

Wow, that makes this even more genius! It looks so well put together, it appears to have come from casting!

Thanks for the extra info on working with PVC.

Missed the "hand" fabricated. Mesmerizing that you were able to bend and shape PVC piping to do that.

Also, using the polyurethane resin may release toxic fumes in it's chemical state and while going through it's chemical hardening, melting Polyurethane resin is not what I do and as stated, this is what I am most experienced with.

Again, thanks for the info and absolutely love the mod!

Could I just make a little suggestion?
If I ever get my hands on one of these I plan on keeping it FOREVER!

So, would it be a lot of trouble, do you think, to make the switch replaceable?
Then I could just get a couple handfuls of these 8,BRASS Momentary Push-Button Heavy Duty Switch,CR312 - eBay (item 120321227680 end time Jul-17-09 05:22:41 PDT)

It seems that would be the only part to fail eventually.

Oh, and sell extra bottles. For changing flavors, or when I wear out the one it comes with.

That's all that comes to mind right now. I have connectors coming from Nerf so that's all I need....I think. Gonna get a handful of attys on payday.

Thank you for your consideration  ~ Huggers ~ P

Let me clarify...maybe hot glue instead of epoxy on the switch so when it dies, the glue could be melted with a solder gun, whatever, and replaced.

Thanks ~ P

This batch of pics makes it soooo much better !!! I hope you decide to produce some for us that would give you a donation, so to speak. ( don't want to cause any problems for anyone) Could you go into a little more detail on how you work with these plastics. I'm sure I'm not the only one here who would like to learn. Thanks and again very nice work!!!

hi again Dee :)

using a switch such as you suggest would cause me to have to significantly increase the size (heightwise). you can't tell from the pics, but the switch button you see actually is only 1/8" thick inside and extends all the way in through to the other side of the PVC pipe where the tactile switch is mounted. the center of the "switch button" is literally riding right on top of the bottle receiver and has a hole in it to allow for the tubing from the bottle. think of a threaded needle turned on its side (not a very good analogy, but it's all that comes to mind at the moment).
i'd have to really rework things in order to use what you suggest. i could place a simple contact switch on the top over the battery terminal, but i feel this would influence the overall ergonomics a great deal.

bottles? no prob. they're cheap and there isn't really any big mod to them save from a rubber tube attached to the inside of the dropper. you could even mod them yourself or just swap a modded dropper top as you go.
i keep several different flavors on hand and change them out on occasion myself.

the hotglue is a pretty good idea, thanks! i don't have a glue gun, but they're pretty cheap, i'll look into getting one :thumb:

you plan on keeping it FOREVER? lol!
really, it's just a piece of plastic. one afternoon on the dashboard would be a death sentence, a good fall to the concrete would probably result in a lifetime of traction, at best. you do pose a point, though. unlike a lot of the "uber mods", it is delicate by comparison, but no more so than, say, a standard box mod.

btw ~ i did notice that in another thread you mentioned that you are using a 5v passthrough and would not care to go back to 3.7v. i can't help you there, as it's just a 3.7v battery. sorry if this is bad news (?).

~ Could you go into a little more detail on how you work with these plastics ~

patiently. ;)
my main tools are a set of files, a coping saw, and a drill. the biggest pain is making the O-ring dripper-thingy attachment. i use friction to soften the plastic then pinch it while it's turning to help make the O-ring groove, let it cool a bit, then file it to size so it can fit into an atty, then deepen the groove till an installed O-ring fitted onto the piece fits into an atty.
i really need to invest in a set of calipers.

Man. This is a fine piece of work. Put me on the waiting list for 2! You do some unbelievable work Tinear. Keep it up. These mods put the commercial "mods" to shame. If you could get someone to mass manufacture these and possibly put in a mini USB so it would act as a passthru at 5v and charge at the same time you'd have yourself the single greatest e-cig hands down. Awesome.

nah. do the above and combine it with my SideWinder

... that would be my ideal PV.

that would be "King Cobra" ;).
