well... it's not the ONLY way :D You can always buy a few books of stamps, weigh your little package, and then stamp it!

That's what i do. sometimes I have to 'over-stamp', and I'm sure I've sent out a few labled "postage due", but it saves me the gas, time, hassle... and that's a biggie. I go to the actual PO every couple weeks, just to make sure I'm doing it right, or if I have one I'm not sure about. OH.. and to buy more stamps! ;)
My poor postman... yesterday I crammed my box FULL of outgoing boxes. I think I had 8 or 9 stuffed in there!

Yes, I do that too. I've had a scale for years so I know how much stuff weighs.

I really should just buy different denominations of stamps so I don't have to "overstamp" so much.

And BTW, if anything ever came to me postage due I wouldn't mind at all. It's never very much and it's simple to put some change in the little envelope and leave it.

Yes, I just checked it out and it's free.

I have a merchant account though so I'm not sure you can use it without this.

You know what else I found out? First class is 13 ounces or less. I have a package going out just over 3 pounds and sending it parcel post (the slow boat) they wanted $10+

Time to switch to priority mail I guess.

What a rip (not PP, the PO).

No wonder all these vendors use priority. Juice is heavy!

Does anyone know if it is possible to print out firstclass postage from the USPS website?
I have not found a way to do just first class. I was wondering if I missed something.

USPS doesn't allow you to pay for 1st class postage via their website.

Solution: "Go to paypal and click on sending multi-shipments.
There you can plug in weight and add delivery confirmation and pay and print and put in mailbox.
You can only schedule USPS pick-up with priority mail.
I just sent out 45ml of juice in 3 different bottles. With padding, it weighed in at 4.5 oz. Cost $2.09 including delivery confirmation via Paypal.

Yes - You can do 1st Class, Priority or even Media Mail with PayPal. It doesn't matter what kind of PP account you have, you can still use PP Multi Order shipping USPS or UPS.

You can get scales really cheap on eBay. I think I paid less than $20 for mine and it weighs up to 75 lbs, has Tare and Hold features. Runs off of batteries for a LONG time or comes with an A/C cord.

The only thing is you are required to get a delivery confirmation with every package, which costs .19 cents for 1st class, Parcel Post or Media Mail - Free with priority. It does offer Flat Rate Priority or regular Priority.

I've used it for almost all of my shipping for several years now just because it is easier for me.

With PP, can you print postage on regular paper, or does it have to be on a label?

After doing some searching, it appears that short of getting a Pitney-bowes account (expensive), paypal is the only way to do 1st class mailing from home. My post office is close by and it's not a problem for me to just go there, but for those who need the option of doing it from home, it looks like that's the only way to go.

I use Stamps.com from home and do the First Class with no issues.

Also, if anyone has a shortage of padded mailers, Office Depot has some nice ones made of recycled paper, $.49 ea, which is not bad at all. These are sort of an "army" green, but they do have the adhesive strips, and are reusable too.
