Rose: a 6ml bottle of juice in a small padded envie shouldn't cost more than 2 stamps. I had one weighed last week, and that's all it cost (because of size, not weight)

The Post Office told me the minimum for the padded, bubble envelopes was 2, $.44 stamps and 2, $.17 stamps or 3, $.44ers is easier but $.10 more postage than needed... a donation. hehe

I received a package with something small, not larger than a 3ml bottle and it had postage due of $.34.

Hey leannebug, hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day...missed you around here. :)

Pretty much everything I've sent has been in 6x9" bubble mailers, and they've all been between one and two dollars for 1st class. The bubble mailer I sent today was $1.39 for 1.6oz, and it was almost 2" thick. This is what I get charged at the PO itself. If any of these online print-and-ship thingies are charging more, then they're ripping you off.

I buy mine at Walmart and just reuse the bubble wrap that I get from orders. I've never had a problem with anything. I use packing tape from the 99 cent store to tape the bubble wrap and the envelope. I also buy the labels at Walmart. They come in a package of (I think) 100 and are 4 labels per small sheet.

BTW... Welcome to PIF. You sound good enough to eat... or vape. hehe :p

lol... I hope it wasn't mine! I often guess, and just throw some stamps on the envie and put an extra if I'm feeling iffy.
My PO must charge less than yours then! They said the envelopes with the fluval inside were one stamp plus (20 cents or so) because they were too thick, and the small padded envelope I had (about 4x6, the smallest size) with a small sample bottle was 2 stamps plus (about 20 cents) because it was too thick. He showed me the special cardboard they had with 'slots' in it, to test the envies. He wouldn't let me have it tho (darn!) but did tell me the sizes of the slots.

ah good.. you? My kid was sick, but now I have it. :p I am sympathizing with Jules :p

Well, I finally broke down and bought a postal scale (10lb. max.) from the post office - $40. I just can't do the post office on a daily basis. It's cutting into my valuable lunch time and ECF browsing time at work :) I'm gonna try it out tonight when I get home.

Yea, I tried to buy one, cuz I'm tired of guessing the stamps, but the PO was out, going to try office depot or walmart

I use the multi-shipping option on PayPal. That way you just pay for it with paypal funds or with your checking account if you have paypal connected to your checking account. You get the same discounts as shipping assistant, .19 delivery confirmation for first class - FREE if you send priority mail. It is easy to use, no fees and you can choose USPS or UPS depending on what you are shipping and how you want to send it.

I have been shipping from home for years and I have found this to be the easiest. I think it gives you 10% off of the shipping costs. Flat rate envelope with delivery confirmation is $4.75, so maybe that's only 5% but still. Then you have your mail man (or woman) pick everything up when they deliver the mail.

I can't download it now at work, but can you use it to pay for first class shipping? That would be so much handier than using stamps.

I sent my first Priority small flat rate box using the "print postage" option at usps.com. Pretty easy. Just wish first class postage printing was available. I did go to Paypal's site and it was confusing as to whether you can print first class postage or not. You can also get some free small priority flat rate boxes by going here:

After doing some searching, it appears that short of getting a Pitney-bowes account (expensive), paypal is the only way to do 1st class mailing from home. My post office is close by and it's not a problem for me to just go there, but for those who need the option of doing it from home, it looks like that's the only way to go.
