MAJOR problems with my evod

This evod is just pooping on me over and over. Sometimes leaks all over my ego battery. Concentrated e-liquid comes up through the mouthpiece and I taste straight liquid. When screwed on, I will struggle taking the evod off and the bottom part will stay on while the top part will unscrew. Pretty annoying when I need to add more liquid or I need to change the battery and the whole evod won't come off. Also embarrassing when I try to show my friends how this thing works. I make my own e-liquid, 15% flavor, 20% water, 65% vg. I do not know what to do at this point. Thinking I might just buy a patriot and a k100 and stop dealing with this. Any advice if this is fixable??

Replace the coil and add the flavor wicks back to it. If you did not remove a flavor wick, try adding another flavor wick. Lotta water in your juice, which may cause wicking issues. Don't like, or can't vape PG? Might help with wicking. You sound like you're either over wicking (the water?), or not developing a good pressure seal (the grommet?). What wattage are you using? Is the evod and original or knockoff? How about the coils, original or knock off?

I learned to quickly rebuild the evod coils, and with cotton, I had no leaking issues and a substantially better vape. If you experiment with some of these suggestions, and others to come, you can get the evod to work properly. It's surprisingly good for a $5.00 clearo. Good luck!

Just to be clear, are you talking about the "EVOD Kit" or the "EVOD Clearomizer"? There's a difference...the "kits" usually come with a relatively inexpensive, lower quality clearomizer. The clearomizer is a unit that looks like anodized aluminum with two clear stripes to allow you to see the liquid. If it's the former, I probably wouldn't mess around any further.

If it's the latter, it kind of maybe sounds like you have an incorrect coil or maybe just a lower quality one. I find them fairly reliable, but do occasionally get gurgling. (I just put a paper towel on the tip and shake forward a couple times to clear it.) There's a lot of cheap coils on the market, I've found the actual Kangers work the best. Also, the coil has to be fairly snug...I've had a couple times where the bottom will unscrew, but the coil won't...it's an annoyance, but it's easy to pull the coil and put it back on the base. You just have to be careful about what's where so you don't leak when unscrewing. Also, make sure that you've established a regular, thorough cleaning cycle...I usually do it upon changing coils or fluids. A good long soak is important to keep the threads free of gunk. Personally, I use cheap vodka for a 3-24 hour soak on my clearomizers and Everclear on my coils. There's a lot of other things that work, too. Water isn't enough (for me) to really clear that old flavor out, especially if it's a strong one.

I think my favorite clearomizer so far has been the mini-pro tank. I have a bunch of the EVOD's, but that mini-pro is super satisfying to me. I like the EVOD's for sampling, but my "all-day" is a mini and regular pro tank. I haven't tried every one under the sun, though, so my experience is limited.

Good luck!

The large amount of water in your e liquid could be contributing to the issues. Making e liquid for clearomizers can be tricky. Too thick you get burnt/dry hits. Too thin, and stuff kind of goes to poo. Try taking the water down to about 1.5% that may help. Bill brought up some good points on the coils as well. I've bought knock off coils on accident and they didn't work good :( Sorry you're having all of these issues it's no fun.

I use Evods and T3S's almost exclusively. The more watery a liquid is, the more problems I have with it.
I would think that all of that water in your mix may be causing the problems.
If I have a thin juice in there I will throw some VG in to help thicken it up and that solves the problem. It might mute the flavor some, but it's better than having to toss out a tankful and refill with something thicker.

And yes, I have problems with trying to take it off the battery too. If you just barely finger tighten your battery, you should not have too many problems getting it to come off. I also find a lightly damp napkin will give me a better grip to get them off if I have tightened them too much.

I make my own ejuice I don't use water, I use straight pg, however I am experimenting with a 50/50 pg/vg blend, I might try a 75/25 pg/vg. The vg makes it a little harder to suck through a needle for refilling. The straight god is to runny I think makes it easier to leak/flood. I'm thinking with something thicker it will stop that non sense. I could see how water could make that problem even worse

Cotton, properly cleaned, is vastly superior to silica, imho. It also wicks much better, and a little goes a long way.

How do you properly clean cotton? Boil? I plan on picking up some yarn next time I go to walmart that should work correct?

I like organic cotton balls. They are generally cleaned with hydrogen peroxide at the factory. Raw cotton is NOT clean. Boil in distilled water for 15 minutes, dry, boil for 5 minutes, dry overnight. Can do a whole bag this way, store, and a near lifetime supply awaits. Cotton goes a long, long way, and therefore, has to be replaced very infrequently, and boiling a good amount reduces the amount of time in prep for months at a time. Also, once you find your preferred gauge of kanthal (I like 28 and 30), just buy 1,000 feet, and it will last for years.

I also buy the cotton coil in 40 foot bags. I think Amazon has it. Yes, pack of three bags for $10 will last years:

Amazon.com: Fantasea Cotton Coil (40 ft. Per Bag) (Pack of 3): Beauty

Good luck!
