Hey there I have bought 3 pass through s recently all all of them stopped working before I even had them for a month. My most recent one was the Tornado USB pass through which only lasted a a little over a week until the dang thing fried up inside. Sooo I'm tired of buying these things only to have them break and be stuck taking a loss of shipping them back which is still taking a loss.

I would like to just make my own so I can easily fix it if something happens to it. Problem is I'm not sure about all the details in making it.

Some things I am not sure about are:

I use 510 atty's and atm I have LR ones so to be able to use them I need to put a resistor in the passthrough to limit it to 3.7v? Or a battery? And If I dont use either and I just take the voltage that comes direct from the USB will it fry a LR atty instantly because I don't really want to have to put a resistor or battery in so I can use regular atty's at 5v but I also don't want to have nothing to vape on until I order the regular atty's.

Also the big issue Is connecting the atty to the pass through. What can I use to connect the atty's? Any ideas?

Is there a thread showing how to do this that I have missed somewhere?

Thanks!

hit madvapes, buy some
silver "solid" 510 threads.
usb cord
horn switch
something to put it in (a dual AAA box will work fine for this)

if you don't want to add anything special to drop the voltage snag a 5 pack of their 3.2ohm cartos or attys
the usb cord will have a black and red wire along with others in it. black goes to the out side metal on the threads, red to switch, switch to inner post of 510 connection.
and you have a PT.

if you run into any snags you can pm me, can even do video chat if need be. (you don't need to cam up)

It's dead simple. Less than $8 in parts from madvapes and maybe 10 minutes to assemble. I made one about 5 months ago and it's been working like a champ ever since.

EDIT: Doh! Didn't notice you wanted a 3.7V PT. It's not much more complicated to do that. A simple voltage divider circuit will accomplish that. All you need to add is a .5ohm 10W resistor (assuming a 1.5ohm LR atty) wired up like so:

thanks for the Info, I stopped by radio shack today to see if they had the stuff I needed to get my vape on sooner but the guys that worked there were not the brightest bunch and didn't know what a protected battery was.

SO I'm going to order from made vaps and just wait I guess.

1 Thing Since I have to wait anyways I may aswell just buy some regular 510 attys so I don't have to put a resistor in.

The usb port on the computer puts out 5 volts rite? If so thats perfect I like high voltage vape which is why I had the LR atty's for my 3.7v PV.

Thanks

I have the same problem as you with PTs. I removed the usb wire from the PT and ran it to a box mod. worked great but too much voltage for my atties. 510s might last a few days to a week at best (some only a few seconds), 901s about the same, cartos would last forever but were unusable in a day or two because of burned taste. I read somewhere that 801 atties held up great to HV, so I ordered some and thought I would be happy if they lasted a couple of weeks. The 801 is great. I quit counting the days of use after a month and a half. I finally broke out another one after a couple of months because of a burned wick taste. If you soak the thread end of your PT in boiling water to soften the glue you can remove the atty threads for use in a box mod. The threads should have wires already attached to make connections easier.

If your going to use it as a PT then you don't need a battery. I put a battery connector in mine but you have to make sure that you have the battery switch off when plugged into usb or very bad things can happen. Much safer not to wire it for a battery.

Yah I was going to make a regular box mod aswell but they didn't have the batteries for that.

I just pulled out a rigged up Passthrough I made from a broken one back in the day that has a battery in it its a Totally wicked one. I was using it back in the day but it stopped working and I couldnt figure out why turns out the battery inside it was shot. I just hooked up some allegator clips to the wires inside on teh circuit board and it worked which is how I figured it out.. sooo I have "something" to vape on untill I get my parts...BUT......All I have is LR atty's.. Sooo without the battery in there I guess I'm putting the full 5volts into a LR atty which I figure wont last very long..

If I just buy some regular atties and a switch I should be able to rig this thing up rite. it doesnt have a switch atm lol you plug and unplug it as a switch. The connector I used was from a tiny Usb charger for a regular 510 battery I ripped it out there and soldered it up.
