Fixing My 510 Passthrough

Well I have bought 2 510 passthroughs in the past 2 months and on both of the the switch stopped working. They are the ones from Totally Wicked whih seem like a common model that is sold from a bunch of vendors.

They have the battery inline and are 3.7 volt models..

I want to just cut the cord before the tube that holds the switch and the atomizer connector and replace the switch with some other type of switch.
I have a connector that the atomizers can screw into that I took out of a small usb charger from a smaller e-cig model and the threads fit the 510 atty perfect.

So I want to cut the wires like I said and use some type of housing to be decided yet and put a different switch in and wire it up to the female connector for the atty.

Is there and resistors is these passthroughs? The only place I could see there one being is inside the tube with the push button switch..

Has anyone done anything like this? and will this work?

This is really my only option to cape atm because my last working battery for my Tornado caught on fire while I was vapping on the thing and had to toss it out the window while driving.

If I understand you correctly, then what you're thinking of should work just fine. While you're at it, you could lose the battery and use a good power supply that puts out 5V @ 2 Amps. There are some cool people in the mod section that would probably walk you right through it.
