Hey guys! I'm new to the ecf and diy e liquid in general so I wanted to say hello. Also I was wondering if anyone had ever tried making your own extracts from strawberries, bananas, etc.? I read online that you can make your extracts by putting fruit in vodka and letting it sit for a month or two. I'm doing that right now to strawberries, bananas, and watermelon. They're in glass jars away from light and kept cool. I know that alcohol isn't good to vape though so I'm wondering if I'm doing it right and there's just another step I need to take or what? Thanks in advance guys!

The problem with extracting fruit is you're left with residual sugars which will caramelize and gunk your coils up in no time.

I've done successful extractions of tobacco, tea and coffee. Tobacco, which contains far less sugar than the fruits you mentioned, still lends a fair amount of sugar when extracted. I find myself cleaning my coils about once a day when vaping my tobacco extracts.

For fruit, I say leave it to the pros.

EDITED TO ADD: There are other threads that discuss extracting fruit. Give the search function a whirl...I'm sure there's a wealth of input out there.

Ahhh I see. Did you also just use vodka or how did you do it?

I have used vodka and an ever clear distilled water mix to extract fruits. The make great mixed drinks, but I haven't tried to vape any of them. I did do many extractions with PG for vaping. I extracted tobacco, cocoa nibs, chamomile, rhubarb, ginger and blueberries. They do gunk coils super fast. They all came out tasting great except the blueberries and elderberries ( didn't list above). Those just tasted bland.

Someone in the tabacco extraction thread did bananas. Those would be real coil gunkers.
