So was reading the paper yesterday and saw an article on a contest that Manitoba is having. The contest is for people that want to quit smoking/using tobacco products. You have I believe 1 month to prove you've quit tobacco products, the grand prize is $5000.
Me living in Manitoba and recently quitting analogs was interested. So I went on the site ManitobaQuits and then the face book page. They had a post where you were given the chance to say one word of encouragement to help people quit. Best advise would win $20 gift certificate. All the postings were like 1 paragraph not one word. I posted E-cig as my one word of encouragement and a link to ECF, showing people where to get a vast amount of information to make the decision of quitting analogs and start to vape as an option of quitting. I mean I was afraid of vaping but this community helped me understand the vaping world. I can proudly say it's been 3 months since my last analog and it was a walk in the park with plumes of vape.
So this leads me back to why I posted this. This morning I went on Facebook to see the status of my post, and it was deleted!! The contest opens today and my post was deleted. No reason was sent to me for the deletion just gone.
Guess our world is going to stay taboo, very sad indeed.

The problem is that health Canada is the main sponcer of these quit campaigns and everyone here knows how HC feels about Ecigs. I was kicked off the smokers helpline web page for bringing up ecigs and then arguring when they told me they were illegal in Canada. Also Ontario has a quit smoking contest every March and it was suggested that I not enter cus the test they give you to show that you quit I might not pass using ecigs.

Found this in their rules:

"Contest entrants may quit tobacco any time on or after August 1, 2011 but must be tobacco-free from May 1, 2012 through and including May 31, 2012 and any additional time it may take to notify winners and evaluate test results in order to be eligible for a prize. Tobacco-free means no use of tobacco products of any kind. Entrants are permitted to use nicotine replacement therapies (e.g. patch, gum, inhaler or lozenge and/or prescription medication). Any eligible entrant selected for a prize drawn during the Contest Period will be required to provide verification of their tobacco-free status by buddy declaration, personal declaration, and/or carbon monoxide/urine test. Entrants who declare the ceremonial use of tobacco on their registration form will not be required to provide the testing verification. Their tobacco-free status will be verified through the personal and support buddy declarations."

Chances are they won't allow e-cigs for the fact its not a pharma NRT and are regulated as a tobacco product now in the states, at least that would be my guess.

Yea, I thought about that and decided not to bother entering.

Maybe having someone using e-cigs, the chance to win isn't such a bad idea. If you were to win, be tested & disqualified - there would be some "BUZZ" about the details - might even get to media. This, I consider to be free advertising and exposure to the cause. That makes it all the worth while in my books.

For the record, I've entered the "DRIVEN TO QUIT" contest.
