You hold the button down entire drag. I tend to push mine down a bit before i start vaping. Crackling and popping normal for new clean coil heating up juice. With many set ups it is good to do few dry hits ( short not too powerful drags without pushing the button) to make sure the e juice gets to the coils before you start vaping.

Thanks Mogy...but it tastes burnt. Brand new set up.

I've had a couple coils that I didn't let get enough juice soaked before I tried to fire. Toasted the wick, so a nasty burnt taste. Do you have another tank or coil to swap to try again? I'm not familiar with the Halos, but I think the "manuals" are all similar in this regard. Make sure you give a couple minutes with liquid getting to the wick (you can take a couple of draws WITHOUT firing to help pull juice to the wick and coil - but not too much to flood). Per cbrite, crackling good - lets you know that you're getting juice to the coil.

Welcome by the way - don't be afraid to ask questions - lots and lots of wonderful people (who know waaaaay more than I do) to answer your questions.

When you say flood do you mean with bottom coils? This is a top coil and I let it sit for 10 mins or so before I hit it

Sorry - yes. I don't use too many top coil tanks because it seems like I fry those quickly. I have heard that you should "twirl" horizontally to sometimes help the wicks stay saturated. I'm gonna sit the rest of this one out - don't want to say anything misleading since not really an area that I'm familiar.... Perhaps the smarter ones will have better advice :)

I just recently upgraded from my Halo Triton starter kit, but I used (just) the two Triton's for almost 2½ months and I rarely experienced a burnt taste problem. If you haven't already I would try to put the device at a 45°-90° angle and spin it to saturate the wicks where they enter the coil, you can also draw on the device (without pressing the button) while doing this. If that doesn't help than you most likely burnt the wick at some point and now it just needs to be replaced/cleaned (or the coil was screwed up from the start). If you don't have any replacement coils I suggest you order some now so that you have back-ups. Also, just a tip, but you can buy Kanger T2 coils for less than ½ the price of the Triton replacement coils (they will work perfectly on the Triton).

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions, and I will do my best to answer them.
