My wife and I went to PetsMart and bought the Marineland U blue foam that vets recommend as the filler of choice for worn out cartos. Since I couldn't find a post or info that was precise, I'm not sure if you're supposed to cram a lot of foam in there to just below the white "straw" in the middle of the cartomizer, put in a fair amount, or make it kind of loose, so three different carto types were the end result. We ended up with two of each. Either they leaked from too much juice in the loose ones, had that "burned" taste from drying out after 5 or so hits from the "fair amount" ones, or fried the foam after 10 or so hits from the crammed cartos. In any event, the taste from all three wasn't really that good regardless if it was puff 1 to puff number 10. How should they be packed and why do they have a different taste than the standard white filler? Plus, I'm afraid that the battery is going to be fried from either the foam burning up, or that the juice is going to drown them. What am I doing wrong? Don't worry, I'm not trying to over fill them and I do soak up the excess juice with a paper towel just like regular filler, but then to prevent leaking the foam drys up so fast, there's only a few hits to be had before I need a fire extinguisher when the burning starts. Am I just better off buying blank cartos and refilling them (which I did) cause there ARE no problems that way? I just hate wasting the $7 on the foam unless this dumb Greek is screwing up something simple that can be easily fixed. Please help!! 37 days analog free. Thanks ECF!
