Hi I'm looking at adding a GGTS to my growing collection of PV's. I have a deal going with another forum member, and he has informed me that the telescopic part has markings/scratches, from the inside threading of the tubes. Is this a common occurrence with you GGTS owners? If i were to buy a spare telescope, is there a way to prevent it from happening again? Looking at the picture the markings/scratches look evenly distributed, which kinda looks nice and adds character.

Hi King, yes, I think it is pretty normal, if I remember correctly it was discused before in some thread in here. Some of us added O-Rings to prevent that to happen while others like how it looks with those marks :)

I've seen your GG's in a pictures you posted, and they do look mighty fine. I've bought another spare telescopic tube, and will take the advise of adding O-rings. I also remember you mentioning that you use flitz liquid polish to polish your GGTS's, I plan on doing the same but, is there a reason why you don't use it anywhere near the engravings?

My 4 don't do that and I wouldn't want them if they did. That's me though.

Epic Journey
The original telescope that came with my TS started showing thread marks after a day or so at the top. There was a lot of play between the threads of the bottom tube and the telescope. So, the telescope could lean against the threads of the bottom tube while turning it which resulted in the thread marks on the telescope.

The new telescope I got seems to fit tighter with the main body and has not had this problem. Make sure to use a small amount of vaseline on all threads. That seems to help too.

Regardless of what the company that makes polish says, ALL polish is an abrasive. The act of polishing removes metal; not much, but it does remove it. Staying away from the engravings protects it from the abrasive action of the polish.
