I've been smoking Marlboro Lights for 20+ years. I tried to quit for the first time last week and failed miserably. Didn't even last 12 hours. The whole act of smoking is what's addicting for me -- the hand to mouth thing, feel of it b/w my fingers, etc. You guys get it, I know. After reading through these forums and watching many videos I feel like the e-cig might be very helpful for me.

Wondering if anyone might have some recommendations on a suitable e-cig for me? Would the Joye 510 be a good start? Or would the Blu be better? I'm totally new to this so I'm looking for something that's not too complicated. And I do feel that something that closely resembles an actual cig might be most appealing.

Thanks in advance for any input!

after I spent a good amount of time researching what other people were saying, I decided to go with a Vapor King from vapor4life.com. I got it today, and it's awesome. Steve at V4L is awesome, and really knows customer service.

I smoked marlboro (reds, lights, and recently ultra lights) for about 12 years, today is my first day not smoking. Doing fine thus far. Same problem here with the actual "Smoking" being the issue. So I understand where you're coming from. I see this really helping.

If you do decide to go with VK, I'd recommend the ultimate ultimatum package. It has everything you need to get started, and some. PCC, Passthrough, case, cartomizers, 2 batteries. It really is the Ultimate package, and a pretty decent price. Pick some flavors, and I suggest buying a couple extra cartomizers and also buying a bottle or two of matching liquid (flavor wise) to go with those cartomizers. I'd recommend getting a few fruity flavors as well as the mboro. I didn't get any fruity flavors, and I'm regretting it!

No matter how you look at it though, this is a beginning to a new kind of end (the one that ends without you dying much earlier, and living those last years being able to move without gasping for air). I wish you the best of luck in your choice, and your journey.

If you want one the same size as a regular cig but don't mind it being black I'd highly recommend the Dragon from Truesmoker. I have 801's, 901's, 510's and a few others and I've been using the Dragon (401) more than all of them. It gives good vapor, lots of flavor without burning the liquid, good throat hit and the battery will last at least twice as long as a 510. I smoked Mbro lights for 30 years and totally quit 8 months ago and have never looked back.

Marlborough Lights EX-smoker here.

1. Rule of thumb is that the more it looks and acts like a tobacco cigarette, the worse the performance.

2. Trying to clone a cigarette will only make you want a REAL one more. Vaping is NOT smoking. If it's the hand/mouth thing for you (same for me) try one or two tobacco flavors, but order 2-3 NON-tobacco flavors to try. My current fave is French Vanilla Coffee! Haven't smoked an analog in over a month. My husband keeps trying to clone a menthol cigarette and is finding himself jonsing for a tobacco cig all of the time and hasn't completely quit yet. I'm trying to find him another "all day" flavor, so it's less like smoking. Enjoy all of the options you now have to get your nicotine fix! :)

3. Don't consider a "manual" PV as inferior. It should actually be called "controllable" because it allows you to control how long you can inhale and is better for battery life. Most vapers end up prefering the controllable over the automatics.

4. the Joye 510 or the Vapor King from Vapor4Life (not to be confused with the Vapor Kings store) are great starters for newbs! I still love my 510!

every one has a opinion on which they like better
I will tell my little story

i went with the 510 because i heard good things about the throat Hit
and I wanted to make sure I could feel it . ( keep in mind when I say this i have only used a 510 )
( i was a pack and a Half a day smoker for 10 years )

I went with the manual batteries for the 510 ( I have to push a button for it to work ) they do make auto batteries for the 510 ( comes on when u take a draw ) and if u look u can see the pro and cons on both bats

But i started all this with out wanting to quit smoking I just wanted to smoke while at work

So i got the kit from cignot ( the nobox 35 dollar deal )
got it day at noon and hooked it up
at 9 i unhooked it and started to use it
I decided that I would use only it untill I craved the real thing and then i would smoke a Cig

Its been 3 weeks and that time has not come . I have had a pack of analogs in my car and on my desk and I have not even had the urge to lite one up

As for which model is best for you I can not say and I dont think anyone can say because as you will find out from reading the forum you will see different people like different devices . I just thought i share my experience so far .

and Just as food for thought a starter kit for 35 bucks ( cignot )
Hell its worth trying . I mean hell if u only use it one week you have got your moneys worth out of it

Ok, just checked them out... Vapor King looks good but $90 is pricey (mostly b/c this is my first time and that's alot to throw down). Dragon is sold out in every color combo. Anywhere else you can get it?

Check out the 510 at cignot.com. They have a sale right now $65 for a starter kit with 2 batteries & 2 atomizers (you'll always want a backup) with a PCC (charger carrying case).

From my own Newbie experience, i got the 510 last night, heard awesome things about it..

Started with the normal marlboro that came with it, and actually didnt like the taste, I have also been smoking M lights for 17 years

I am now smoking menthol flavor, and i love it, it makes your mouth feel fresh and clean :D

Have not had the urge to pick up an analog since i got it last night, and when i get a craving, i just take a drag

Ok! Just did it! Bought the Joye 501 Kit from cignot.com. Figure even if I move on to something else, I couldn't beat that deal of a price and it's a good starting place. Thank you all SO VERY MUCH. I'll report back once it arrives. Really excited!

Big congrats!! :D I don't think it matters as much which model you choose to get started -- it's the getting started that matters the most IMHO. But you chose a good model, I think. For beginners the 510 and the 901 seem to be the most-recommended. You might want something else later on, and that's okay, too. I love my 901 (terrific flavor), but now I'm looking at a 2-piece model (with the cartomizer) for something that holds a bit more liquid for when I'm away from the house and my computer.

Again, good for you for getting started -- and welcome to the forum.

Ok, so my Joye 510 arrived yesterday from Cignot.com (within 2 days of placing my order!). I got a bit excited and tried it immediately only to get no vapor. I realized it probably needed to be charged so I plugged it in and charged it overnight.

Tried again this morning and it was ok. I think maybe I had super high expectations. The taste of the carts it came with and how hard I have to drag on it are what's bothering me the most. I also have to get used to holding it differently than my real cigs b/c of that manual battery button. I guess it all comes with time. I ordered some juice but looks like that won't be arriving until tomorrow or Tues. Hoping that makes the difference.

More than anything though just wanted to thank everyone here. Your patience and help are so appreciated. Warms my heart!

Dripping on the atty and topping off your carts will make a huge difference with the 510. Good luck to you! Vaping is the best! (If the 510 ends up being too much work, give the V4L forum a looksee and see what people are saying... Give the atomizer a couple of days to break in, and once it does, you're going to wonder why in the hell you bothered smoking for so long. The last time I smoked a cigarette (Marlboro Light), it felt like I was just vaping with a flooded atomizer... and it smelled really bad.

Look up the pyramid tea bag cartridge mod here: http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/tips-tricks/30017-video-lipton-pyramid-tea-bag-mod.html

It's infinitely better than those fuzz cartridges the 510 comes with.

Excellent. B/w juicing it up and giving it some break-in time, sounds like things can only get better.

Is it normal to have to hit the thing so hard? I feel like I'm sucking forever only to get a tiny bit of vapor and barely a throat hit. My husband has always said that I drag hard and long on my analog cigs so I thought I'd be good at this, but gees I'm getting a sore mouth and head rush!

I disagree that the analog cigarette size is the worse, and I disagree that juices similar to regular tobacco will only make it harder to drop the analogs. We have the super minis RN4081 and I vape Virginia juice which, IMO, is the closest I could find to my old analog brand. I smoked for about 40 years and was up to two packs a day. When we started vaping I dropped the analogs immediately and haven't had one. Haven't even thought of having one. I like the analog cigarette size and the tobacco taste of Virginia. I will try a different juice from time to time but always go back to Virginia as the most satisfying taste for me. It's all in what you like.
