Max VG juice no good for Nautilus and Nautilus Mini?

Been vaping for a little over a year now and until the past few months used only the Halo Triton along with mostly Halo juices. Since my batts and tanks were starting to wear out I decided to move up and got myself a few Nautilus Minis and a full size Nautilus, a few CF VV batts from Aspire and an Istick 30. I also started buying juice from Mt Baker Vapor and have been trying a lot of their stuff, most of which I find very good and far more reasonable in price. With the Nautilus I noticed I was using a lot more juice and that sometimes the throat hit was just too much for me even when turning down the power so I cut down my nicotene to 6 (from 12) and upped the percentage of VG from 50 to 80. The 6% nic still is too much for my throat sometimes when vaping at 11 watts and my next order will be 3 nic to see if that does the trick.

Here is my question: Mt Baker Vapor throws in a free sample with just about every order and this time they threw in a 5 ml bottle of Black Ice. I loaded it in a Naut Mini and noticed almost right away a burnt taste and virtually no vapor. Then I looked at the bottle and saw it was 0 mg nic and "maxVG". I emptied the tank and filled it with 20/80 juice that I ordered and everything was back to normal. I have no experience whatsoever with maxVG and my question is whether it is normally only used for dripping? Is the problem that it is too thick to wick on a Nautilus (or any other standard tank) or could I be doing something wrong?

I have never had luck running max vg through my Nautilus mini. I have always diluted it with higher pg ratio juice to as low as 40PG/60VG That is where the vacuum on mine is on the edge of not wicking fast enough to just sit back and enjoy. You could also take distilled water and add a couple drops to dilute the max VG juice so it works for ya.

Hey there devil495.

Just my two cents but I use nothing but 100% VG with my Naughty Minis/iStick combo without problems. I've yet to have to dilute with distilled water but it's always an option. There are a couple of things I always do when installing a new coil. I drop two or three small drops of juice directly into the top of the coil and let it seep down through the mesh screen and into the wicking material. Don't overdo it though because you can get gurgling until the juice burns off. I also close off the air holes and take a few primer puffs then let it sit a few minutes. For reference, the juices I use almost exclusively are from Free State Vapor (LOVE this company), Velvet Cloud and Virgin Vapor. Virgin Vapor seems to be a bit thinner than the others.

I also drop my power down on the iStick to the lowest it will go until I am sure the coils wick is saturated. The iStick tends to run a bit hot for me on a fresh charge so I leave it under 7.7 watts until I lose a bar on the power, but 7.7 watts tends to be my sweet spot. Oh, and I use the largest air hole. Hope this helps.

I'm a bit perturbed with Aspire and the whole plated metal inner tube issue (as opposed to Stainless Steel they advertise) right now, but I'm also having a hard time finding anything to compare with the excellent gear combo of the iStick/Naughty Mini combo. The Kanger SubTank is a great tank on the iStick but it is a juice hog! I can't afford it. Good luck to you!
