My Maxi is starting to die. The past couple days it has been super finicky, and now its just acting nonsense. I put in a battery right off the charger (4.8nimh or my 3.7 Ultrafire 18650s) and it gets one great drag off of it and then acts like the battery dies. I took a look at the inside of the tube and it looks like the spring is bent somehow. My guess it is shorting out on me. Luckily I have my mini to tied me over, just wanted to get some advice from people before I pulled the trigger on a new tube or a SB.

If you have a backup, use it for now. Go to their website, log in, and open a ticket and tell them what it's doing. They will give you some things to try first. They have always been good to respond back to me with 24 hours. The only other thing it could be is your switch going bad. If you can pull the spring completely out, look at it and see if it looks burnt to you. If it is burnt looking, it's collapsed and won't make good contact anymore. Other than that, it's a bad switch.

You can also just remove the switch assembly and soak the switch in alcohol to clean it. If it's the newer wire attachment make sure the slip on connector is tight - I crimped mine when it started not hitting well. Hope you're vapin' that RS soon!

Just regular rubbing alcohol? I have a switch on my Maxi RS that is not working because I over filled a mega carto and it got juice all in the switch (or atleast I think that's what it is). It stopped working just after that happened. I removed the switch from the board. Can I just drop it in some rubbing alcohol?

in here somewhere USA
You can try alcohol and a qtip, I am uncertain about dropping it in alcohol, but someone else may come back and expand on that. If the switch is just dead, it is just dead. There is a post around here somewhere on how to check it with a multimeter. Maybe someone can explain that too, I would, but have forgotten correct results.

My Maxi RS is having problems as well. It looks like the silicon ring inside the connector is going bad or out of place at the very least. I have to keep pulling up the center post of the connector when I change atty's/cartos. It works fine afterward but is somewhat annoying. Has anyone ever attempted to change out the connector or replace the center post/silicon ring assembly?

As a matter of fact I just changed mine. I ordered the prewired 510 sealed gold connected from MV(wish i would have ordered the silver one and soldered myself for looks lol). It was very easy. Just pop out the old one with it clamped in a vice. I used a screwdriver and a hammer and tapped the old one out, tapped the new one in. Soldered the switch assembly wire to the prewired connector. Wrapped a small piece of electrical tape over the soldered wires to keep them from grounding in the cap. Bam!! Good to go!!

I have use alcohol quite a few times to clean up electronics. If the switch is not working currently, ya have nothing to lose. Alcohol evaporates rather quickly and actually dissipates water. Let it soak in alcohol a few minutes, work the button to maybe make it disolve anything inside that's sticky..Soak a lil more and repeat a few times. Remove from alcohol and let it sit awhile to dry out. Maybe 12-24 hrs to be safe. I doubt it takes that long tho to dry out.

I'll be soaking the switch over the weekend. I'll post and let you guys know if it worked.
