I've looked into those (you can get the same one for around $20 on amazon if you look deep enough). The problem is, for them to provide full service (like Twitter, Facebook etc..) they need a dedicated sim card, which means paying for another phone line, where android wear lines of smart watches provide all of that through Bluetooth

Yeah I saw that after I posted. 99% of the ones that take a sim card take AT&T sim. Bummer.

I hear ya. I got pretty lucky with mine. I COULD have gotten it for $50 if I had known Verizon was running that sale like the day before I found out about it. It was still a great deal at $65 though. I considered getting one of the ones I posted for you as a backup but then I noticed that it takes a sim card. I have a verizon sim card but I wouldn't be able to use it on the same line my phone is on. I guess AT&T has data plans for $5 a month so that's an excellent option for someone who wants a cheap plan. I think I can do that with Kennedie's watch if the kids want to be able to talk to her. I like that the kid ones can be set up for a dedicated phone number. Keeps them much safer.
