Well hubby and I are on the internet at home pretty much all day. His work is done over the computer and he watches YouTube in between calls, then plays games when he is off. I am play games and watch YouTube all day as well, and that includes a few hours of Netflix each afternoon. Comcast does have a meter online that shows usage, at least it did for us even before they had a cap.

That's the kind of meter I have been looking for. I can't get anything recent to pop up on Google right now, though. Is that one on the Xfinity site?

That particular screenshot is from Xfinity's My Account app. They had one on their website if you went to your account and then clicked internet. I can double check when I get home.

I use the phone app to check for outages and pay the bill. It just happens to have the meter, too.

Even with an internet-connected TV? Okay, I feel a LITTLE better, but still. I can see this ending badly for the consumer. For the price I pay for Xfinity every month I am not okay with being limited, especially since I have been a steady customer for the past 14 years! It hacks me off that they are doing this.
It's all about the revenues. The number of subscribers are basically finite, so the only real source of revenue growth is from people using the internet more and more......all they need to do is do away with unlimited internet. A couple of years ago Time Warner tried testing doing away with unlimited internet and putting people onto a 300 GB limit, and charging overages for going over. It didn't do very well and they got slammed with negative publicity.

Okay, on their wesbite you go to My Account, then My Services, click internet and the meter would be on the right.
Found it! Thanks for the directions. It definitely isn't easy to find unless you know where to look! :) Apparently our heaviest usage in the last 3 months was 227 GB, so that's good. I suppose as long as I don't have any plans to connect every device I own to the interwebz we will be okay for a year or so anyway. After that, who knows. Every time we get more storage or broader bandwidth some new tech comes along and eats it all up!

Yes they did! I remember that fiasco. I don't think people are going to go quietly into another forced data limit. If their profit margin wasn't so freakishly high they wouldn't have to worry about showing growth. It's definitely corporate greed. You don't show growth, you lose sponsors, but in the end its always the consumer who loses. Well until something new and better comes along and the corporate giant implodes, that is.

My hair is red again...well the part that was white anyways. I had that urge for a change and figured I'd use up the rest of the red dye I had before it went bad. Forgot how bright it was, and actually had a bit of a shock when I woke up with it in my face.
