The first draw of the Maxxfusion and the first impressions of the Maxxfusion were awesome. However the flavor of all the tobacco prefilled (kamel, 555, reds, ry-4 all 24mg) changed rapidly about half way through the juice of the cartomizer and a burnt odor became apparent on the exhale. I tried some new cartoz prefilled with same flavors and they were as great as my initial awesome first impression. Anybody else noticing anything? Leaford, any ideas? I opened the cartoz and none of the fillers are burnt except of some small material that the coil wraps around. I like the Maxxfusion battery but now I am wondering about the cartos which I have bought about 70 of them some prefilled but mostly blanks.

I am going to fill a LR soft tip blank (like the premium from V4L) and a Maxxfusion blank tonight. Tomorrow I will use the Maxxfusion batteries on both and go back and fourth between them taking equal drags and compare performance as well as open both up and compare. It is easy for me to go back and forth between two batteries/cartoz since I have been doing it for months in order to avoid burning the filler of the LR premiums, and since I started doing this I never even came close to burning the filler. I have opened many of them to check. I would not have thought to open the Maxxfusion carto so early if it wasn't for the burnt taste.

If it's not the filler the only other option that springs to mind is residue on the coil. But I haven't noticed any burning taste. Let me know if it happens on the other cartos. And I'm sure others will let me know if they taste anything.

How about the tiny material the the coil wraps around? That appears to be burnt. What kind of residue on the coil are you referring to?

Hey Leaford, the tiny material the coils wraps around is not producing the odor as you probably know. This materials is burn resistant. I removed this material and put a lighter on it and after the juice burned away it turned clean and white and would not burn with a flame on it. I think the odor may be produced from juice burning from a slight overfill. Does this makes sense?

Darn it! I WAS JUST ABOUT TO POST THAT! :D You are correct, the wick is absolutely burn proof. It will glow red hot, without burning, even if held directly in a flame.

As to overfill, frankly that's also highly unlikely. The cartos are filled using a machine, which fills several syringes simultaneously to precisely 1.0ml, then injects several cartos at once. No overfills, no underfills.

I would suspect the liquid still. Possibly something in the flavor you're using is carmelizing or otherwise being left behind to burn.

Oh, and I hope you enjoyed your holiday weekend!

I meant I overfilled. I toped off the prefilled cartos. So, could it be the juice burning on the coil? I think you are right something is caramelizing with the juice i toped off. It happened to my first four cartos which i had going at the same time (I rotate them, bad habit form the "don't burn the LR carto days") and i toped them off at the same time. Since I started topping off and filling blanks being conscience about not creating or leaving a pool of liquid at the end of the cartomizer I have not gotten the burnt taste.

But what can i say Leaford. These cartoz perform really well. Not LR, very difficult (if not impossible) to burn the filler material. Great TH. Great consistency of vapor and flavor throughout the life of the carto. Great vapor production. OMG this is so great and exciting. Now please solve our juice/flavor problem. I like all the tobacco flavors as well (the 555 was lacking TH). The red is really really good. When are you guys going to introduce the juice. Do you think you will be able to give us these exact flavor in a bottle with consistency? As you know consistency had been a huge problem with many of us.

You guys better gear up because I think you will be getting slammed with orders.
