I have been smoking since around 13 or 14. I will be 45 in July.
I have a 9 yr old boy and a 7 year old Autistic daughter.
When my boy was being born I decided to quit. Started in advance of the due date. Had some pills, patches, inhaler, and gum. I was doing OK a day prior.
D day came and I kept sneaking out to steal a smoke. The Doctors wanted something checked out so we had to go to a University hospital. "NO SMOKING" anywhere. So I have a patch on each arm sucking the inhaler dry and chewing the gum. Going crazy. Sneaking cigs in the parking garage and lying to my wife about the smell.
Fast foward. Daughter is born try again this time Chantix. really cool stuff. Some of the neatest dreams I have ever had. Went from two/three packs a day to one. Lost the meds but was able to stay at around one to two packs a day.
Daughter is Autistic. When it is time to watch her, you have to watch her. I sneak in my basement cave and listen to the footsteps above my head to track her. That's my process. I think my wife is watching her and go down to my cave to have a cig. Phone rings she (my daughter) is in the middle of the road, in her PJ's, in the rain, stopping traffic about five block's away. Race up and out running down driveway as neighbor brings her back. Whew.
Next day purchase the E cig I have been reading so much about. Have had one analog in four days 04/28/10. I stay in the house proper (living room family room ect) and don't have to leave or let my anxiety turn me into mean daddy.
This may not just be my lifesaver. I have to give a lot of credit to this forum for helping me make a educated decision in this regard. It really has changed my world.
