The premise behind my OP is that "Maybe it's NOT the liquid. Maybe it's the ProTank." Notice the "maybe" portion. And anyway, what I responded to with Claudia's post was to Claudia.

EDIT***You know what, I do think it sucks, but that's okay. I just want people to realize that "Maybe it's NOT the liquid. Maybe it's the ProTank?!" I never made a decision for anyone. vape on.

Good enough.
Heck, that is why we have Drippers, Cartos tanks, Clearos and who knows what on the Horizon. We all have our preferences and dislikes. I just tend not to assume what is or isn't. I prefer to find the true answer and Know.

For some Life may be full of Vivi's or an Ithaka
Right now, for me, my Protank has about 1/4" of Bavarian Strawberry Cream Donut left to enjoy. No leaks, No gurgles, stock original Coil(cleaned once) and it is every bit as good as it was on my Igo-L:)

ETA - running on a sigelei 20 with Sigelei Kick at 7.5(ish) watts.

The Protank isn't for everyone and it's not advertised as a tank that requires rebuilding, otherwise it'd be labeled as an RBA and there would be no head replacements as there are available today at nearly every B&M and online shop that sells them.

All I'm saying is that it tends to work slightly better when it is rebuilt, not that you have to and not that it's a requirement to get it to work. It should work out of the box unless there's just something wrong with it (all manufacturers have defects).

With that said, if you like the TS3's, buy more of them. You could probably grab 2-3 for the price of one Protank, you just have to be a little more careful about what you put in them since it's plastic, not Pyrex. I love the TS3's too, so I'm not knocking them :). They work better than the MT3S's from what I've experienced.

With that said, if you're chasing maximum flavor and/or vapor, rebuilding is the way to go. It doesn't suit everyone and if you have problems doing it (my mom would, she has Fibromyalgia), then obviously we just need to find a better solution for you that doesn't require a rebuild or hint at it. Finding that solution is the harder part :). But if you're set on TS3's, why move from them? If they work, I'd stock up on them, grab some replacement heads and vape on ;-).

Brilliant post!

Nice points here:

And therein lies the problem. If it was an actual RBA, then yes, it depends on the build. It can be that, and that's great, but how many people have gone berserk buying heads and wondering "why does all my liquid taste off?" Most people that are looking for one thing are looking for that one thing, not something else.

Making lemonade out of lemons is awesome, but it would be better if the lemonade was not sold as a lemon.

I'm not necessarily set on T3s or anything at this point, just saying that I'm getting more flavor with them and I Clear 16. I haven't tried any tank crackers yet and if I do I will definitely put them in a glass tank, like the PT, chances are tank crackers probably have more intense flavors that would be really good muted a bit.
I don't hate the PT I am just disappointed with the muted flavor and I see this mentioned every day on one forum or another so it isn't just me.
I of course am still looking for my favorite anything at this point, I may try a carto tank who knows. :)

all of them even my t3's and evod's I had loved pale in comparison to
1)RDA's

2)Carto tanks

since Ive started using those 2 things I just cant get the same satisfaction I used to
sort of like when I started using NET"S I cant get satisfaction out of lab Tobacco's

That being said If I rebuilt those clero's and protank with cotton or some other good material
my experience may have been different
And I may try that for the sake of convince

If I cant get the aga T 2 to taste better, but for that I'm first waiting on a mech from china
and 28g wire to see if lower ohms helps any

A better thread headline would have been.....

The protank may not be for you....

In three years I have used alot of different stuff. Right now the g50 is my item of choice using a protank coil. What will I be using next month...next year ?

It's sound as is. I spend a lot of time in the General E-Liquid Discussion forum and it seems that everyday that the PT has been gaining popularity I read someone saying what I mentioned in my OP. I would've liked to have put this thread there, but it's not technically a liquid discussion.

Man, I have seen people go through liquid vendors like water trying to find something, anything, that tastes right in their PT. Once again, maybe it's not the liquid. Maybe it's the ProTank?! The problem is that I don't think they all realize that it very well may not be their liquid that is the culprit.

I will say though that using it as an RBA is sweet. You got to love the sticktoitiveness of vapers. Can't hold 'em back for too long.

This.

People should know by now how inconsistent products are. Whether it be cartos from the same box, or Protank heads from the same manufacturer. You know why RBAs are so awesome? Because YOU make the coil and YOU make the wick to YOUR specifications that work best for YOU. The Protank is no different. Once YOU make the coils/wick that work best for YOU, it really is a solid tank.

Anyone see a common theme here? Not one person vapes the same flavor, at the same pg/vg mixture, with the same nic level, from the same delivery device, on the same battery device, at the same power. There are so many variables that a stock coil head simply cannot work with them all. Whatever YOUR combo may be, YOU have to take the initiative to figure out how to make it work for YOU.

I'll agree 100%

I've had TONS of "issues" with the pro tank..... UNTIL I learned to build my own coils, and take it into my own hands.

My problem NOW is my new carto tank. First carto tank ever....and boy oh BOY is this a pain in the ..... Not just muted flavor....NO FLAVOR. I don't blame the carto tank , nor the carto though, I realize itll just time a bit of time to figure it out.

With the pro tank, I've had issues before with muted taste, burnt taste.....and I think thats about it. All fixed by building my own coils, the way I like them.

The pro tank is a fantastic delivery device, and the reason so many people have them, is because they are tried, tested, and found to be decent.

Yes, like right out of the box with very muted flavor and I HAVE replaced the head with no difference and I am using it first on an itazte using different settings, and now a SID with the exact same results. I have done everything suggested except try to rebuild a coil or rewick and while those things may solve the problem they aren't possible for everyone to do. Try this again when you become old and arthritic and tell me how easy it is to do. Just trying to take the head apart resulted in the bottom screw being lost within seconds and I certainly can afford to be killing heads cause I can't maneuver my old arthritic fingers well enough. Sorry if I sound a bit sarcastic but I feel as if I'm being talked down to by a few.

If there is one thing I've learned on ECF....it is that MOST OF US are defensive about what WE vape. We will defend our favorite e-liquids, PVs, or delivery devices to the DEATH. LOL!

The problem with it all, is there are a LOT more variables to vaping that we don't always take into account.

Some people SWEAR by certain e-liquids, while others can't get past a SINGLE VAPE of the same liquids. Same guys for hardware a lot of the times.

Since my pro tank vapes better than nearly every delivery device I've tried.....I might have trouble understanding the complaints.

On the other hand....I can't get a carto tank working for the life of me right now.....while others probably would laugh at that comment. It is all perspective , lol.

As far as the TS3's go, if you're happy with them and your experience is good, then I would honestly stick with them. I love them, but I like to be able to vape more with less refills, which is why I bought the Protank and the iClear 30 (which leaks and I don't recommend at all). My experience with the Protank is good and bad, like most that post about them.

I'm happier with cotton and no flavor wicks on a rebuilt coil, but at the end of the day, it's a small coil, a small chamber and only so much wick can go in there. I don't expect the Protank to rival an RBA, and it probably never will, but there are plenty of options on the market to test :).

For you, you may want to try a carto tank. I have one (an X8) and it's not too bad. The single hole in the carto is a PITA, but if you can grab some dual or tri-hole cartos, it's actually not too bad at all. You just have to get used to filling it a certain way and make sure it's screwed together snugly.

Well, I hope this thread doesn't backfire. Sometimes people on ECF can end up jumping on a bandwagon...and once they hear someone who they look up to in a sense , or they think is more experienced then them, say something about vaping, they end up parroting it.

Not saying that WILL happen, or IS what is happening, but for instance, I JUST posted a thread today in the E-Liquid Discussion forum, and Fuzion's Unicorn Blood tasting burnt.

Someone replied, verbatim, "It's the PT, not the juice." I actually took offense to that slightly, and had to correct the person....because it most certainly is NOT the PT. Not only have I vaped 30+ e-liquids out of my PT that taste spectacular as compared to many other delivery devices....but I've never once had this problem before in my PT.

Not just that, but MANY others have experienced the same problem with Unicorn Blood, I mean MANY others.

I just hope people don't start blaming pro tanks now everytime THEY do something wrong, lol.

The truth is....MOST mass produced and mass used APVs/Delivery devices/e-liquids to some extent work just fine....and when they don't...they dont end up selling as much as something like the pro tank.

I'm not saying it is perfect.....I'm just saying it works....and it certainly works well. OBVIOUSLY it won't work for everybody....not to their liking anyway. I have yet to find ONE delivery device that does (otherwise everyone would simply be using that device).

I believe, much like me, you are enjoying a warmer more flavorful Vape from the standpoint of tank design. I never take my Protanks out as I prefer having a quick, easy, simple setup at hand. At work, I know I need that Hit to calm me down and it is best delivered by a more pronounced Vape.
T3 being narrower and holding less e-liquid and the coil being up higher in the tank tends to produce a warmer vape with more Vapor under the same power conditions.
T3-mini is even much nicer than the T3 due to the shortened tank.

Protank is large and more e-liquid is caramelized before the tank is emptied. People tend to top up and don't realize they are gathering all that thick e-liquid down around the coil. This is probably as big a reason for failure as anything. Tanks should be emptied and rinsed before refilling unless the liquid is Nearly the same as New.(rare)

We don't see this on the smaller tanks due to less fluid and more frequent emptying.

Question: how much liquid per tank do you chuck? 1/4 mL; 1/2 m/L; mL? Just curious. Does it depend on the juice? If it happens quickly, is it buh-bye liquid? That happened to me a couple times when I first used the DID and the Z-atty-pro. I had some issues with wicking and the contents of the tank was shot to hell. Poor liquid. :(

I'm a tight wad - lol - I'l usually just bump the heat up a touch and vape off the last of it. Wash everything out good and make sure I have the coil clean and wick back to white.(Wicks don't burn) Then I will do a fresh fill and go again.

Light to clear liquids don't seem to be nearly as bad and I can go 2 tanks without issues. By then it is time to change flavors.:D

I want to reply to this thread.

First and foremost, nobody wants to make their own coils and such. It's absurd. The Protank heads are a nightmare to get apart and put back together, and frankly, without this forum, no one would have a clue whats even inside these heads or that they even come apart. Most people would see the warning on some websites saying "replace every week" and change it after it tastes burnt. Quite frankly, to some extent of being able to moderately taste the juice you put into this tank, it should work that way right out of the box. No priming, no soaking, no blowing, no screwing, no licking, no dancing, no naughty bedroom things, NO rebuilding.

Is that the most experienced ultra-level master chief way of tasting the very soil that the tobacco in your NET was grow in? No. But to an extent, there's no reason it shouldn't work as good as the fully disposable Blu e-cigs do (the only vape device that never has failed me - yes, those $10 "sample" devices that don't come apart - they have been the ONLY device that has ever worked for me in any sort of way.) People simply want a product to work as advertised. No one's looking for the Grand Vape.

My issue right now? My Protank does not give me ANY flavor. Just water tasting puffs. I've kept the voltage at 3.5, primed the coils, then took flavor coils off, vaped half a tank, let it sit for an hour, then sucked, blowed, and did things most hookers would have gotten paid to do. Ended up with nothing but a coal-black wick after 5 minutes. No flavor. My juice was wicking extremely well, checked it every time. No leaks. No flooding. The tank worked great at keeping juice in. The heads? I think they are a ponzi scheme.

It may just be a better question to ask: for those of you who've gotten heads that work right out of the box, where did you order them from? And are there alternate heads out there that we can use instead of Kanger's malarky?
