Maybe it's time to see more higher ohm visions :- )

The thinner the wire the faster it will heat up 2.4 ohm,s work better at 3.7 volts the thicker wire takes hi'er voltage to heat up 3.0 ohm's work better at 5 volts I believe from reading the mod threads out there but like I said I'm no elec.Eng. also I thought this thread was for the Stardust didn't notice it was for the visions which can't be rewired with out a lot of moding and sodering.

5Volts at 1.5Ohms is 16.66667Watts. That would require an unregulated mod, probably with stacked batteries.

I doubt the LavaTube goes that high. Actually, I think the LT is a 2.5Amp devices, and that requires 3.3333Amps. Even the VVPV, and Buzz Pro is a 15Watt, 3.1333Amp device (whichever comes first). And, it sounds like the new TOX head isn't getting over 3Amps. Heck, even the Darwin is only 15Watts. What are they putting it on?

Anyone know what the new Provari2 does for Watts and Amps?

Lets read what it says in the above linked thread as i said I'm still learning:

Ok....lets start making an atomizer coil.

First thing you need to do is determine what value of ohms you want. You need to know the ohms per foot of the gage of nichrome wire you are using. I prefer to use 36ga which is 27 ohms per foot. (Most factory wire is thinner 38ga.) At 27 ohms per foot, 1" of wire is 2.25ohms per inch.( 27/12=2.25) 1/2" would be 1.125 ohms (2.25/2=1.25), 1/4" would be .56 ohms (1.25/2=.56) and lastly 1/8" would be .28 ohms (.56/2=.28) This math will work with any gage wire if you know the ohms per foot.

Let's do an example. I want a 3.2-3.4ohm coil. A normal factory ohm value. 1" = 2.25 ohms 1/2" = 1.25 ohms Total = 3.5 ohms 1 1/2" is very close to what I want, but it will end up much lower when completed ! It will be about 3ohms. Not critical and you may like the extra heat. The lower the ohms the higher the current draw and more heat produced (watts). Power = Watts (heat) and here is a free online calculator to do the work for you to test examples. Simply enter the voltage and resistance(ohms) and the rest is calculated for you.

That's good information. I'm already all into that. ;) But, having 1.5Ohm at 5V just isn't possible with many devices. Which is why I asked.

OK what am I missing where did the 1.5 ohm come from what I'm referring to is the next size up wire 36 GA. Instead of 38 GA wouldn't that let you pass more voltage threw the atomizer with out burning it out? As i put a 2.8 Stardust on my vv had it turned up to 8.4 wats and as soon as i hit the button it poped. So if I go with a higher ohm wire that should solve that problem I think am I right or wrong? Am I going in the wrong direction?

No, I'm confusing you. It was in reference to the dual coil 1.5ohm cartomizers, at 5V that barefoot posted. Not anything direct. It was just a comment about the 3 ohm (DC Cartos are half that) at 5V.

OK I was confused was just wanting to make one of my stardusts work on my vv device don't know if I'll get it right but going to give it a try to get one to 4.0 ohms but don't think I'll be able to get that many winds to fit in between that grove

The bigger the resistance wire the lower the resistance... 36 guage is around 27ohms/foot while 32 guage is somewhere around 12ohms/foot.
