OK, I havent had an analog since Sept. 20th, and been vaping since I put the analogs down! And, now that I am on the other side of a up-hill battle, I am looking back on the first few weeks of quitting and something has come to my attention, which If I were to guess, has crossed someone else's minds too? I just wanted to put this out there, and see what everyone thought...
The chemicals and the tar, all the 'harmful' additives and such in analogs that isnt in the actual tobacco plant, but added to the mix later on down the line somewhere, for God knows what reason?? But, ok, here's my thought; The nicotine isnt the only addictive substance in analogs, which Im sure that is it addictive, but it isnt the only addictive substance in a tobacco cigarette. Now, I do not say this because I had a brain storm or because I have a grudge against the big companies, or what have you. I say this simply because, once I quit smoking and started vaping, I experienced withdrawl symptoms and cravings like I had went cold turkey, :confused: all while I am vaping like a mad woman, lookin' like the lil'engine that couldnt, lol, and no matter how much or how strong the MG's of nicotine, the cravings and withdrawl was still present. Now, if the tobacco cigarette's addictive substance was nicotine and ONLY nicotine, then I should not have experienced any withdrawl, or even discomfort for that matter when I quit and started vaping, because I was still getting the same amount of nicotine, (if not MORE) than when I smoked. So, why then was I still experiencing all these symptoms?? well, the conclusion I have come to is this;
The chemicals, tar and additives are just as addictive as the nicotine. Now, I could be very wrong about this. and this is my opinion and mine alone, based on my own experiences. What I am wondering is, if anyone else out there had the same experience, or thinks anything similar to what I do? Just something that really puzzled me, as I am going through this process and relearning how to live my life without cigs, that was something that stuck out and I really do think that there is more that nicotine that's addictive in analogs. what do you guys think about it?? I am really curious to hear everyone's thoughts on this one! :thumbs:
thanks for your time

Perhaps you are indeed addicted. I believe it was more a habit on my part. When I started vaping, I used menthol flavor without nicotine and I persisted for three months. But I noticed that I vape a lot without pause and my atty did not last long. So I resume with medium nicotine level then eventually low. That allowed me to pause between puffs and prolonged the atty.

Funny thing is that the e-cigarettes are made to look like cigarettes. Could the addiction be psychological as well? I used Joye Ego to make me conscious that it is not a real cigarette.

I agree on your theory, I have been off Cigs, since January of this year, however, on a very low nic level, between 4 to 9, there about. Just for kicks and grins, I tried a puff from a friends cig, and experienced dizziness ......therefore I assume it has to be the other additives in them. In truth, the battery butts, that is my name for them, taste much better.

I agree with you! I started vaping at 30mg nic and was able to cut myself to just 2 analogs a day for about 6 weeks, then finally gave those up and have been analog free now for about 2 months. Yes, I DID go through actual physical withdrawals, sweats, headaches, dizziness, very edgy. It was not a fun proccess at all, but at the same time vaping has helped me kick the analogs like nothing else I've tried! I am 100% sure that there are many other things in the analogs and more addictive things added all the time to help people stay on them! How many people do you know who have had much success with just the patches or the gum?
I am 44 yrs old, and at my age, most of my friends and family have quit smoking by now. I know of not one person who recently quit using the patches and gum. Chantix, Wellbutrin, yes. I really wish I knew exactly what was in the analogs. I'm just so happy that I was finally able to quit this nastiness after almost 30 long yrs of it though!!!

Without a doubt the additives in cigarettes are as addictive and for many of us more additive than the nicotine itself. Its a piece of the reason why some of us can switch so easily from analogs to our PV's and for others it it a much longer or impossible task. Its also part of the reason why our PV's are so much more healthy for us as we aren't consuming those additional additives any longer if we are only use our PV's.

I read somewhere on this forum, I believe it was in the 'Information for newbies" section or something like that, that yes indeed there are other addictive substances in analogs other than nicotine. Fortunately for me, I had no problem switching, after I started vaping I had zero desire for an analog, and I had been smoking for about 24 years! I'm sure it also depends on your body chemistry.

Good luck to you! I'm sure those other cravings people experience will fade with time of course. Don't give up, vaping is where it's at!

Okay, that makes me feel so much better - sort of. It's definitely been a process for me and I am still smoking analogs but not nearly as much as before. I, too, have wondered about what else in analogs I am addicted to.
