Sorry, but I wasn't sure if I was able to post a link yet on this site. However, I had a dream-----

Can of Soda $7.50
Mixed Drink $35.00
Can Beer $20.00
Tastykake $ 6.50
1lb Sugar $250.00 (by prescription only)
Cup of Coffee $9.00
Apple pie $9.00
etc, etc, etc.

Think of the possibilities. Cali balancing their budget (for the time being). Expanding the war on terror all over the globe, Supporting our failing health system.

No wait the nightmare e-cig $500. Cartridge $22.00

Time to move to the islands.

The thing I absolutely hate and makes me really angry about all this idea of modifying people's behaviour through taxation is that it's 'only' the poorest members of society who's behaviour is being 'modified'......the rich can simply carry on doing whatever they want because they can afford to do it!!...

This would be funny if there wasn't a great possibility that it may come true.

Sugar by prescription only haha - we would all go broke.

Seriously - our kids cannot buy a coke at school anymore. They can only buy water. Although they can still buy candy - who decides?

money is an illusion...its an idea based on scarcity. How can the government possibly run out of money. And What i dont understand the most is how can people be so blind by the fact that only one percent of our nation are rich. And they say the system is good. How can we put a price tag on someones work. Money in todays society is based off slavery...and what doesnt make sence even more is 85% of our jobs are based off of service. Them manufactures jobs are mostly machines. The agriculture side is done by mostly machines. Right now in Germany there is a restraunt that is fully 90 percent auto mated. There are no waiters no busboys...just machines and touch screens. So whats going to happen when 90 percent of the jobs out there are no longer there. Replaced by machines...what good is money then. If you cant afford to buy anything because you have no money what good is it to have money in the first place again money is based off of scarcity....

Its an old system that has failed to work and will keep on failing.

I once had the vision that as machinery started taking over all our jobs and doing all our work for us, that we would only need to be doing something like 10 hours work a week and still have a good life. How silly of me.

I totally agree.

I think they are starting to consider other taxes as the population of smokers decreases. Do we really know what the intentions of the FDA are in regards to regulating tobacco. Who's to say that 25 years from now you will need a prescription to purchase any tobacco item. Reminds me of the movie the fifth element with Bruce Willis where a cigarette is 2/3 filter and only so many are dispensed a day (implied).

If they go wild with taxation such as this and there is no cheap home made equivalent, then I will seriously consider moving my edumacated self to another country... like Alaska :D

yea money will cause a lot of caos in 25 years when our resources have finally ran dry. power and money cause more problems. IF you really think about it those people who end up robbing banks and cause harm to others are 99 percent caused by our failed system. We have the highest prison population rate....the most armed....and much more. why not because they were greedy and wanted more but because the envirment which they are in. There shouldn't not one starving individual on this planet...but the ilusion of money creates value on food and clothes and education....which then creates thiefs and other problems. No one should be rich and no one should be poor. Even in the world we live in if we ran our cities as though we lived for survival and everyone had free education, and everyone could pick there dream job and everyone stimulated there brains to find what they really wanted to do.....you would see a much different society that could grow faster in technology because there wouldn't be any greed and money to get in the way......we could have cities in the oceans with 100 years and searching the stars in 300 years. But everyone is trapped to believe in this ilusion of money and everything is dictated around money....money itself holds no value only objects that which you value. If everyone was allowed to use there full potential and really free to make there own choice......Im not talking about choices you do everyday with buying junk, cell phones and more useless waist....Im talking about true freedom of which you can be very happy doing what you love doing for the sake of what you love...not money. it can be done and most likely it will happen in about 60-100 years when people will force change...because our resources will have ran dry.

Money is the key to keeping us as slaves to the system, but it's all illusion. Unfortunately, we've got way to many sheepeople out there that need to open their eyes. What has happened with the e-cig has opened a lot of peoples eyes to the way the system works, at least on this forum. We just need to get the truth out to more people.

As far as I'm concerned, refined sugar, corn syrup and especially Aspartame are all dangerous drugs. The sweet soda's are just deliver methods.

Politicians have no clue on how to fix a problem, they will just make some new law, slap on a new tax, and shove more money in their pocket from their true owners for doing the dirty work.

We need to get technical people into the process, people who CAN solve problems. If I where to debug our medical system right now, send all the doctors back to school and teach them nutrition (
Let them learn what Hippocrates knew almost 2500 years ago, U Are What You Eat.), stop the drug companies from pushing synthetic derivatives of medicinal herbs, that are only designed to treat a symptom, and cause more harm than good.

Guess we have to face the fact that our government is a cancer, and it's not benign.

I really like the direction of posts like this. Do I have any idea how to bring about a society where there is no power struggle, no economic enslavement, no unofficial caste system? I will admit that I don't. Who knows, maybe someone already does. It's encouraging to see that others are thinking along the same lines as myself.

There is a "Tipping Point" when circumstances align themselves for change, and once it starts its momentum grows until it is overwhelming. (I recommend the book by the same name by Malcom Gladwell) I feel that our society is nearing a tipping point in several areas. One of them is over-regulation(and over-taxation?) of individuals' lives by the government. I don't know if the e-cig case is important enough to enough people right now to play into that effect, but it could be. If 20% of the smokers in the US really got behind the cause they could not be ignored.

Imagine a line of vapers marching on Washington, puffing away, peacefully letting themselves be arrested one by one until the police can't take any more. Then we just keep coming!

Who will be the PV Gandhi?

Hey we should all move to the same island, take over the island, vape all day, and re-name the island. Any ideas?

you and me both...

being an old fart, I grew up reading stuff like Future Shock and The Third Wave by Alvin Toffler, thinking that as I got older there would be more and more leisure time and a shorter work week...

silly me, I forgot all about greed and money...

Sorbiton,
Don't you get it yet, the plan is for all us poor people to die leaving only the rich to populate and procreate:evil:

For the folks who think money, profits, etc are evil, think about 1 thing.

Our beloved e-cigs were invented by Chinese folks (who seem to be finally giving up on collectivism along with Europe) for the purpose of making money.

Besides. If there were no money, then there would still be some type of 'reward' system, that will drive people. That 'reward' may be resources, land, access to services, etc.

So if you don't support Free Market Entrepeneurs, put your PV down, and walk away.

For that matter, put down your cell phones, laptops, turn off your internet, everything, just throw it out! These things don't happen out of thin air, and government has no incentive to innovate, or make things better or cheaper.

As I said before the Gov made the internet, but the Free Market made it Awesome.
