Didn't know where to put this.

I know I am not a newbie really....analog free for over 6 mos. Perhaps somebody could answer this, maybe help a few newbie's fear.

Has anybody lost weight due to quit analog but continue to vape?..........Reason I am asking my daughter biggest fear is gaining weight if she quit the analogs. She is on a strict diet of 1200 cal. and need good amount of Iodine in her diet due to Hypothyroidism/goiter. I know I haven't lost much yet, got lots to lose, given a ok by dr. to do a Walking Program. Woot! Slowly getting more energy as time goes by(asthma due to smoking). Been surrounded by analog all my life. Yeah my appetite has change and some food just plain gross me out. I don't eat alot sweet like I use to......vaping for my sweet buds instead. LOL.

I just want to reassure her, hoping to help her overcome her fear. Plus let her know, she is not alone in her fear. Giving up analogs and vapes, but still manage to lose weight. I always assume for most people its the burning of the analogs that suppress the appetite and taste buds. Now I am not so sure. I was somewhat picky about my food, but after I quit the analogs. I've gotten alot more pickier, my boyfriend can vouch for that. Plus my appetite isn't as big as it use to be as well(my age maybe? pushing 50 soon). What I am asking has quitting analogs and still vape done the same things to you?. Are there any reports that show the nicotine may or may not suppress the appetite? Please help me find some answers.

I like to have my home become 100% smoke-free. Even tho I push the smoking section out to the enclosed porch. I just don't have the heart to shove her totally out into the cold.

Any help well be so appreciated.
Thank you.

I have noticed no weight gain. In fact, most weeks I lose weight as long as I do not go out to eat or engage in activities that would cause anyone to gain weight.
As long as she continues to follow her diet plan and simply replaces the analogs with e-cigs, nothing should change. The nicotine will still act as a stimulant (as it does in cigarettes).

nicotine is an apatite suppressant. I'd "think" continuing it via PVs and tailing off slowly would negate this sudden change in chemistry and stave off the problem.

Stimulants, which nicotine is, are often used as appetite suppressants. So long as she continues to vape nic, then I would think this would help keep her from gaining weight.

I've always assumed that when people quit smoking, they replace the "habbit" with snacking. Switching to vape isn't really giving up the habbit, so that might not be an issue?

This is true too. I know the several times I tried to quit analogs before, I had to replace them with something that would satisfy that oral fixation. I tried gum, butterscotches, and twizzlers (they were nice b/c they feel most similar in the hand to analogs compared to most other candies)... but all of those put on weight. Not to mention, as badguy said, simply replacing smoking with snacking.

I have found since I finally quit smoking (took me about 2 months after starting vaping) that I eat less. I get all these yummy flavors through vaping that I don't crave the snacks to get those flavors. I haven't weighed myself, but I think I have actually lost weight in the past 20 days since I started vaping exclusively. It is almost an every day occurrence that I realize i haven't eaten and I really don't want anything to eat, but my stomach growls so loudly, I know I need to eat and silence the beast.

I've lost 12 lbs in nearly a month of vaping.
I have a sweet tooth and love baked goods. I satisfy those urges with sweet vapes. I just ordered a bunch of 0 nic juice because I was overdosing on nicotine because I enjoy my good tasting vapes so much in the evening.
I've gone from eating 3 14oz bags of peanut M&Ms a week to less than 1.
I've gone from drinking more than 24 cans of Diet Coke a week to less than 3 liters.
i can walk faster so I burn more calories because I don't get out of breath or overheated so easily.
Hope that helps.

It's not a one-way street. She can try vaping for 2 weeks and if she thinks she's gaining weight, analogs are still available. My money's on her never going back.

I quit smoking for a month before I discovered vaping. I went to the doc a lot during that spell and each visit, my weight was up a pound or two (they weigh me every visit). I went back to the docs 2 weeks after I started vaping and I was back to my smoking weight.

What cookiebun said +1. I snack big time after dinner with anything from candy bars to cookies. I now substitute anything from cherry vanilla to root beer floats e-juice. I haven't tried Ms T's bakery yet but probably will soon. Never thought I'd like sweet vapes when I started but a lot of things have changed in the last month.

Ditto here. I use a very strong tobacco flavored vape for my after meal "cig" then switch to a dessert lower nic for evening vaping.

If she already smokes then I don't think vaping will make her lose weight. My appetite actually got bigger for a while when I got my taste buds back. Now my appetite is back to what it was when i was smoking.

I do think vaping replaces some snacking but I don't think you'll find a trend of people either losing or gaining weight.

Thank you all so much for replying and continue to reply.

My conclusion is.........I guess I have to let her see how quitting the analogs however vape for my nicotine has improve my life so much. By gosh I know it has.

Walking always has been a real chore for me, only be able to make a block. Be totally out of breath(always carried a inhaler) and alot of back pain(work related injury), sore ankles(inherited weak ones) and mild right knee flair ups(couple of serious accidents and 1 surgery caused the front muscles almost useless.) Yes due to these problems, eating problem and smoking caused me to gain tons of weight. Due to all of it also I gave myself sleep apnea(confirmed and tested by dr.)

Since today being a glorious beautiful semi-cloudy but warm, sunny day. I decided to go visit a friend who work 3 blocks away. Forgot my inhaler.............However I was shocked, more ways than 1 when I got there. I found I was able to control my asthma(slightly out of breath but manageable and not stopping every 1/2 of a block to catch my breath.) Plus pick up my speed a little bit. Here the kicker, I was totally refresh even tho I only had almost 4 hrs of sleep and night before only 6. Sure I was hurting but you know what?..............it was easier to deal with because I wasn't stressing out over trying to breath.

To some that might not be much, but to me that alot. Plus I went shopping to treat myself to new walking outfit, down 1 dress size:ohmy: I don't even know if I lost any weight, hasn't seen the scale since feb.

My goal? just one for now.............a 5k walk/run and finish even if I have to crawl my :censored: there.
