I'm a sucker for very potent minty/menthol flavors and cooling sensations ever since my introduction into vaping via Vuse's "mint" flavor. I have since ordered Copper Creek's Creme De Menthe (super tasty, but expensive and lacks the kick I want) and am currently working my way through Halo's menthol sampler kit (all I've tried so far are good, kringles kurse is now gone and am working my way through sub zero).

I want to try MBV's Extreme Ice, but being the overly analytical person I am, I am having a hard time choosing which mix/mixes to order. Between the 5 PG/VG options and the possibility for 0 - 4 extra flavor shots, there are just too many possible permutations for me to try them all. For example, would a 0-shot 50pg/50vg blend taste the same as a 1-shot 20pg/80vg blend (given that less pg generally means less flavor transmission)? I would prefer a higher VG blend, but want to preserve the potency of the flavor and "coolness" sensation. At the same time, I don't want to over-flavor the juice b/c I have no real point of reference for what the original tastes like.

For anyone who has tried Extreme Ice, especially those who have also tried any of Halo's menthol flavors and can use them as points of comparison, could you please post your blend (PG/VG and # of flavor shots) and describe your experience with the juice? It would be very much appreciated, and should help me narrow down the options from 25 to something a bit more manageable.

Just a thought, even if I don't really have a clue about the tastes/vendor you are talking about... Did you even consider just DIY'ing your own Icy juice? I know e.g. The Flavor Apprentice amongst others have a Creme de Menthe, they have koolada, menthol and peppermint... If you are not familiar with koolada, that does not add any taste, but just a cooling feeling in your mouth. I love it! All you would need to easily just tweak this to your own liking. If you don't get it perfectly right, just go to your kitchen and up one of the ingredients and try again... Well, the only thing is, menthol really steeps (gets a lot stronger after a few days), so giving it a little time, does pay off, but it does not take all that much experimenting, I think, to get it to what is perfect for YOU. I soon found out what I like (I used way too much the first time, after a day, it was so strong, I couldn't take it). I don't use these for real icy blends myself, but just for a little ice to make my fruity blends more yummy - and I like a little of that cooling feeling. For me I often just add 15-20 drops of koolada and 0.5ml of menthol to any of my fruit juices which I mix in a 50ml bottle - that gives me what I want. But for something which is to be of menthol taste (taste rather than just cooling), I up the menthol... With flavorings in general, you can often start off with 5% strength, but for menthol, I found that to be way too much (for me, maybe not for you? :) )... Try starting off carefully... :)

Just a thought... I found out that for me, DIY is simply an easier way to get what I want at better prices. I also found that since I have to import (only 0 nic can be sold in Norway, but you can import from the EU), it made sense not to pay S&H and VAT on PG/VG. So I bought flavorings and nic from abroad and mixed my own. I think it has been so much easier to get what I want this way, esp. since I don't really use much of the complex flavorings, most of the time we're talking fruit/berries and koolada/menthol - easy to DIY. :)

When it comes to PG/VG variations and flavor, I am afraid I can't give you any advice. Now I mostly use 1/3 PG, 2/3 VG. I cut down on PG because of throat irritation. I may up the PG a bit soon, since I cut nicotine recently (after having a heart attack last month). I have found that upping my koolada, helps give my juice a bit more ooompf, if you know what I mean, since there's no nicotine there anymore. Upping the PG may be a good thing too.

Anyway, I'm sure somebody in the DIY juice forum can give you advice on mixing your own, if you want to give it a try! :)

Since you have not ordered it before, just get a small bottle in your preferred nicotine level and pg/vg blend. You will then have a better idea of whether you prefer the flavor "as is" or if you prefer a flavor shot or two, with the equipment that you are using.

Everyone perceives taste differently, and what works for one person, even if they are using the same equipment that you have, may not necessarily work for you.

LottaT,
I've briefly considered making my own juice, but honestly I'm still neck deep in learning about mods (all of the different features, brands, batteries, atomizers, coils, etc) and don't really fellike I'm in the position to take on a whole other subject like ejuice making.

glointhedark,
I suppose that's probably the most reasonable way to approach it. Another wrinkle is that I'll likely need two blends, one for work/public (low vapor production, will be using a small 808 vape pen) and another for home (more vapor production, skx zero mini + goblin nano + whatever coils and settings...still need to experiment). Perhaps getting a 0-shot high PG blend as well as a 0-shot high VG blend will tell me what I need to know.

Munk, I can't help much but I will add this. In my book, Halo Wrote the book on Menthols.

I've tried several of them and really wouldn't consider anyone else if I wanted a Menthol.

If you find Anywhere else that does Menthols as well, you've done well.

Now, and I'm 35 miles from Halo, you are talking around $23 a 30 for Halo. It would be nice
to find nearly as good Menthol juice for economy prices.

Yeah, I mean I would be content with Halo's offerings if it weren't for the price. Not to say it isn't worth it (Copper Creek was very good too) but mint seems like a pretty simple flavor. There's got to be someone out there who makes a decent mint, perhaps not the best of the best, but a good mint at an inexpensive price.

I'll pick some extreme ice up and report back. It's one of Mount Baker's best sellers, and I've heard nothing but good things about it so far (1500 reviews, 4.5 stars). Plus $35 for 236ml...it coud be a winner if the taste is there.

MBV usually sends a 10 ml free sample with each order. They have several categories to choose from, all 0 mg nicotine, and either 50/50 or max vg - you choose the category and pg/vg mix. I also thought I saw at one point where they were offering sample kits - a certain number of bottles for a set price - in several categories. You might want to communicate with them and see if you can get something like that - it might simplify your search.

Just got the extreme ice -- very pleased! 50/50, 18mg, 0 flavor shots. Naturally it hasn't been steeped yet, but it doesn't even seem like it needs to be. It's a nice, powerful spearmint flavor (as compared to Kringles Kurse which is a definite peppermint). I actually like this as much a KK, perhaps even a bit more.

Of course, since ordering I've become interested in nude nicotine's minty menthol juice, which figures -- I guess I'll give that one a go as well lol. They seem to have high-quality ingredients, and I'm a fan that they actually test their products. MBV says their "...Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) reports show no Diacetyl, Acetoin, or Acetyl Propionyl in Mt. Baker’s quality, US made eliquids including the Custard and Vanilla e-liquids." but without testing they are sort of taking the suppliers' word for it. But for the price, I'm not sure there is a better mint available without DIY.

Just a follow up, put some extreme ice in my tank today and it tasted a little muted. Not sure if maybe I didn't mix it up enough with the first vape and got more flavor in that tank, or maybe the contrast between yesterday's juice and extreme ice made the taste more prominent? I don't think it's vapers tounge, but suppose it could be.

I'll start steeping and will let you know.
