Had an interesting exchange with fellow vaper last night. Was at an event (indoors) that allowed for vaping indoors. That's not the interesting part.

I'm using my cigalike which I've been doing for around 5 years now and I see 2 vapers at this event. Both of them I knew prior to the event, both I knew were vapers, but because they are more like acquaintances, I'm not all that aware of their vaping preferences. Turns out both are using box mod like device, that appeared identical to me. They were not together and pretty sure they aren't close friends.

Both let me try their devices (me interested in the flavor more than the device), and neither cared to try my cigalike / flavor, which just humored me. I found the devices obviously better than mine in delivering a consistent, fuller hit. Still have preference over my cigalike, but certainly wouldn't rule out getting a device like that in the future. Do think my cigalike is a lot easier to use indoors in most places than that type of device, but that type of thinking likely varies by the individual. Just one of those things where I do think a cigalike is superior. Perhaps one of very few things that makes a cigalike better.

The interesting thing is one of the guys and I were talking a bit about vaping. I ought to note that I'm fairly certain I'm the one that's been vaping longest and fairly confident I'm more aware of vaping politics than either, perhaps more passionate about the politics than both. Who knows. But one of the guys is telling me the feds are making or soon will be making everything illegal / much harder to come by. As if I'm not aware of this. Him telling me they (the Feds) have already banned online sales in a couple states (me not caring in that moment to correct the error of that assertion).

We didn't talk all that long and there is decent chance I talk with the guy again going forward in way that helps the vaping cause. But I find it interesting that some vapers are convinced that it will (soon) be impossible to get product. I feel only way to prove this out either way is to 'wait and see' and in mean time of waiting to stay up to date with what is actually coming down pipe line and strategize collectively to overcome opposition's tactics or strategize individually for how to take care of own vaping needs in the long term.

Either way, my vaping future both immediate and long term appears to not be as dismal as some. Which I find interesting. And which really can't be established either way to determine who is more accurate until we 'wait and see' what opposition will do next. I prefer the optimistic approach and am not naive enough to think nothing will happen nor that opposition has some good points that can't be fought against. IMO, they have closer to zero legitimate points and many of them are fully worthy of civil disobedience / taking to court to be dealt a death blow.

I have a sister that started vaping and she is all about the federal political scene. I was talking to her about the individual states and the local politicians and she had no clue to what was happening.
I urged her to go to the ECF site and read up on the legislation area. I hope she will because it is the best way to stay current on the important vaping issues.
She is a dual user at times and wants to quit smoking all together, but I just told her not to be too hard on herself because she has a lot of stress already.
I just hope people will be able to vape in future.

Wait and see can mean waiting too long. Look how many states have moved recently to impose very restrictive regulation on vaping in general.

Things are Definitely moving down the Pike.......... And as I said over 2 years ago, the FDA is biding it's time and letting individual States/News/Fear Mongering <Create the Need> for Federal Regulation :glare:

MD Delegate - Mike McKay
This legislation will be heard by the Economic Matters and Ways and Means Committee. As a member of the Appropriations Committee, I will not have an opportunity to hear the testimony on this issue. Additionally, I will not be able to vote on legislation unless it comes out of the Economic Matters and Ways and Means Committee. Should HB861 come to the House floor, I will certainly take your views into consideration when voting on this issue.

First Non-Canned response I have received

I don't think you have anything to worry about, as far as cigalikes going away ......................

Truth is, we don't know the extant of FDA rules coming and they could be disasterous. I would have corrected him and said Arkansas is the state that banned online sales from out of state, and California is trying to do just that right now as well. I would have continued with Chicago has a tax that is over $1/ml for e-liquids and many other cities/states are following in their footsteps. So while the Fed hasn't banned anything, it looks like the Fed will impose a partial ban on some things is possible, access to raw nicotine may be impossible, and what are you going to be able to afford is another question.
