measuring resistance?

I'd like to know if there's a "preferred" way to measure the resistance on a coil. Should I measure the resistance of just the wire? Before it's on the wick or after? Before I mount the wick/coil in the head or after?

I would imagine most of the hardware around the coil would not add much resistance, and it may not matter. And the total resistance is what the battery will have to work with.

Just wondering if any of this matters.

What I do with the Vivi Nova coils I've rebuilt so far, is to make and assemble the coil fully, then measure/check it with a multimeter. Then, I screw it onto the tank/clearomizer and check it again, using my eVic. The two numbers should match, and they do, in my case, and I'm good to go :)

That's how I do it anyway.

Yep, that's what I do. Reassemble and check with a multimeter.

Oh, and just a quick note on the multimeter measuring: Remember to check the inaccuracy/resistance of the multimeter itself, by holding the sticks/pins/whatever they're called in English, together and subtract that from your reading.
For example, I get a 0.4 Ohm reading when doing this, so if I measure a coil at 2.7 Ohm, I subtract 0.4 Ohm from that, leaving me with a 2.3 Ohm coil - which is also what the eVic will read, when I connect it to it :)

The sticks/pins/whatever they're called in English are called "probes".

Just a little help with your English, LazyBulldogge. :thumbs:

And you are exactly right about subtracting the probe resistance from the actual reading.

Some of the better DMM's have a "Zero" button which will eliminate the probe error. Mine has a "REL" (Relative) button which will do the same thing.
