Hello all. I am the new owner of a Kamry K100. I found the full kit online for 29.99. I have a bit of battery knowledge, enough to know that the included ICR batteries are probably rewrapped rejects.. and if my understanding is correct, ICR aren't too safe, are they?? Fortunately the kit included a fuse, but this isn't much in the way of protection. I know that IWR batteries are typically specific to APV's that call for them, so I'm curious...

Should I purchase an efest 18650 IWR battery from mtbakervapor, alongside a nitecore 2 battery charger, or test my luck with the ICR + Fuse? Is the IWR battery compatible with the fuse? Also, I have yet to use the Kamry, and just curious, should I charge the included battery before use? I won't have funds to get a new battery and charger til payday. If anybody could recommend me a good combination to use alongside my first mod, something relatively safe and providing the most peace of mind I can get, I'll be grateful.a

If it matters, I typically vape between 1.6-2.8 OHMS. I use nautilus coils, and protank heads, of which come in at 2.5 and read 2.6-2.8 usually.

The ICR batteries should be OK with the fuse on coils like those mentioned, I typically keep ICRs in devices with built in protection (fuse covers that). Personally, I recommend you get the batteries and charger you're looking at, I mainly use AW IMR, Samsung 20 amp, and the occasional Efest IMR. So to answer your question, use the ICR with the fuse for now, but get yourself a good IMR battery/charger in the near future, and do not rock that ICR on anything too low resistance (<1.2 ohms I'd steer clear of with ICR).

Will my high resistance coils fare well? I don't subohm, nor plan too at all. Also, while I got you, to install the fuse I just clip the magnetic end to the negative post of the battery, right?

Can you recommend a reliable charger, preferably industry standard, at or around 29.99? Alongside the safest battery? I'd feel comfortable knowing I got a direct recommendation Mtbakervapors Efest IMR's seem to be spoke about highly, as well as the nitecore charger. Safe combo?

I always, ALWAYS use a fuse in my Mech mods. Just something that I made a habit. So far only needed it once, but that was 1 time too many. I never wrap sub ohm, but you can never be too careful with anything that could explode close to your face.

Nitecore is a fantastic charger, smart charger? Efest IMRs will work great for anyone not looking to sub-ohm, I personally recommend AW (but I do use an Efest sometimes). The safest batteries out there really aren't needed for the average vaper, but the Samsung INR 20amp(18650-25R), and the Sony 18650 30amp are the safest batteries out there. Once again, you shouldn't need something like that unless you're going crazy on your own coils.

Really don't like Nitecore because just on ECF alone there are too many reports of failures and many times taking out the batteries when they do it. I don't see chronic failure reports about Pila or Xtar chargers.

A "low budget" Xtar charger would come in at $20.00 for the WPII 2 - and that comes with a two year warranty.

Efests are ok, but my personal experience is showing they don't seem to have a very long life span. I've been using Efest 18350's side-by-side with AW IMR's and three months later the Efests aren't giving me the run time that the AW's still hold. The EFest are "down" about an hour now on run time compared to the AW's.

Okay, I'll look at the XTAR charger. Thanks everybody! So, I guess I'm looking at the Xtar WPII- 2 and an AW 18650. Will the Xtar let me know when to remove the battery and what not? I don't want to overcharge or anything.

I just looked, I'm using the Intellicharger I2, got nitecore mixed up with something else. Rickajho has everything covered on the chargers/efest vs aw.

Should I go for a standard AWR or a protected? Are both compatible with the fuse as an extra fail safe, or will the batteries reject the fuse?
