Walgreens is open- the new NJOY kit is actually pretty nice and would makes for a great backup, or pick up a few disposables...
Now that you mentioned that, earlier in the day I removed the firing button completely with battery still in it, when I would tilt the entire mod from vertical to horizontal it would start to throw vapor out, I thought that was very odd since it wasn't being fired. To answer your question, there are some small lacerations on the sleeve of the battery.
Does you mod have a spring fired button or use magnets?
Having to press the fire button harder than before indicates a problem with the firing button. This should have nothing to do with the atomizer.
Reminds me of the good ole Nemesis switch. CRUNCH!!!I've had rice pins lock up in some clone mod switches, hate rice pin switches, moving to the center push style that don't use them.
Also metal flakes and dirt can accumulate inside switch housing, causing stiffer push, and semi locked firing.
Other thing to keep an eye out on, is the coil position, sometimes they can get to close and cause a partial short and/or hot spot. Even the best and most expensive mod can develop a problem, tis why a good maintenance and cleaning schedule should be maintained on all things vape.

Could it be because I have brass contacts? I've only had this mod for 2 weeks.
Take the bottom switch off and hold it up in front of you horizontally and press the switch to see how much the contact sticks upward; if it barely sticks up then it might not be makeing good contact with the bottom of the battery. If it sticks up good then maybe the center pin at the top of the mod needs to adjust downward to contact the top of the battery; is the battery a little loose in the tube?
