Hopefully you understand how lucky you got that something prevented, interrupted or stopped a dead short / thermal runaway / vent battery situation.
Doesn't matter if the resistance is .2 or 2.0 when something like you described occurs.

" the battery and tank heated up incredibly "
Heat is a warning sign, hot is way past safe.
I suggest getting a firm understanding of what took place and why then take corrective measures before pressing the fire button even one more time with that particular set up.

Yea its fine, the burnt insulators may make it taste funny if not replaced, but its a chunk of steel, not too much can damage it.

As long as the problem has been solved or fixed the actual atomizer should work for years

Clean it real good, get rid of the black if you can and go for it.

When you tighten the 510 screw always check the top to make sure the positive block isnt touching the negative and check the 510 connector itself to make sure the screw isnt pulled to one side touching anything.

If it happens again or theres still an issue come back n let us know right away

Just wanted to add in, do you've a regulated mod to use aswell? If so, after your repairs and when you gonna test fire it again use it on a regulated mod. Since they've short protection.

And if you're a total new guy to vaping in general (as in first setup) i would realy want to recommend you to get a regulated device until you've learned all the quirks with being a mech owner and safety. (And if you're experienced i'm sorry i don't wanna be rude, just can't stress safety talk enough! :) )

I would suggest getting the rebuild kit and replacing the insulator. You should also invest in an ohm checker to test the rba before putting it on a non regulated mod. And lastly, you may want to replace your battery, I wouldn't trust it after a hard short. Just my :2c:.

Go ahead and replace it. It's better to spend $5 to replace that insulator than to have a mod melt down in your hand. Or, for about $20 you can get a Svoe Moesto Kayfun. Same tank. Less issues.
You can get a clone, but your not getting a real one for 20 dollars.

A real kayfun isnt cheap, and youll have it forever.

True. But $100 for a tank is too much for me. I'm rough on my gear at work. I have a nano and a KFL clone that are about a year old. Dropped the nano n cracked the plastic tank. Ran the KFL over with a forkift. Replaced the plastic tanks in both and they still work fine. Both are SM's. Good quality clones in my experience, and no heart attack when you see them headed for disaster. Lol! I'm not snobby with my gear. I don't have to have the authentics. I just need something that works.

A Russian 91 is just a KFL knock off the same as the other clones. I have a couple clones and love them.

OP,

Please make sure you check your tank with a ohm meter before putting it back on a mech. That is the ONLY way you can tell if it is fixed without putting yourself in danger.

1. Take the base completely apart and wash it good. Check for metal shavings in the 510 also as that may have been the cause.
2. Replace both insulators, the one under the positive block and the one for the 510 pin. I say both because you won't get that nasty burnt taste out of them.
3. Reassemble and make sure the positive block is not touching the negative block and that the 510 pin is fully tightened. That atty does not have an adjustable 510 so it must be fully tightened.
4. Build a new coil and check it with an ohmmeter before putting it on the mod. Do a second check with the chimney barrel on to be sure neither your coil nor a cut lead is touching the chimney.
5. Only use this tank with the regular top cap of your Stingray. This atty is not safe to use with the hybrid connector.
