Maybe I should've been a little more clear..I raced competitively for many years, built my own battery setups, electric motors, etc...I was 4th ranked driver on the west coast and ranked 34th overall nationally. I'm very well aware of battery safety and I do understand ohms law..I understand and appreciate all of your concerns regarding safety and how a mech mod can be a hand grenade if not handled properly. Please understand, im not that guy thats just going to jump in and build something crazy because some idiot did it on youtube and got a massive cloud. Please forgive me if any of this sounded rude, just trying to get passed all of the safety warnings. Thank you
I only briefly mentioned the safety thing because some people here will be surprised that I am recommending this stuff to a new vaper. But I did subsequently also recommend RDAs and a couple mech mods that would be good to look at.

I think I've decided which mod to buy. I found a FUhattan mod with a tobh rda. I've seen several reviews on both and no real negatives that I can find on either piece. Please feel free to give suggestions or advice or just ramble aimlessly as I'm sure I'll pick some good info from that too..lol. Thanks

Clones? I have the Tobh clone and it is the only clone RDA I still use (along with my authentics). Dual coil @ around .5 ohms on my home-made parallel 18650 mosfet box and it works great with no leaks. I think it's a good choice.

Edit to add:

A nice affordable authentic RDA is the Mutation X V3 for around 30 bucks.

I have an authentic tobh 2.5 and a clone of the original Tobh. I also have a FUhattan... great mod. Tobh is an older RDA. It has ok airflow (the 2.5), but its hard to adjust once you set it. And it has tabs on the deck that make the coil placement trickier... you can't easily center your coils for best wicking.

I'm fairly new to vaping(about 2 mos) but I've been bitten by the bug and want more than what my evod mega can give me. Its great to take with me to work or anywhere else but I like the idea of a mech mod for being able to burn off old juice to change flavors and also for testing my diy juices without having to fill a tank with it.
Any thoughts or info I should know before purchasing one would be appreciated. Thanks
keep in mind - you are actually talking about two different things here... to 'burn off old juice... change flavors... testing diy juices..." you are referring to a dripper atomizer, which can be used on either a mech mod (battery tube with a firing button) or a regulated mod (got some electronics to regulate wattage, safety features)... would likely be much better off with a regulated mod and a dripping atty than jumping straight to a mech - just my opinion - there are some excellent, reasonably priced regulated mods available with, overall, a much higher margin of safety...

Edit - saw your follow up post about experience with battery safety - understood - would still suggest a regulated - they are also (depending on the model) capable of more power - consistently - than a mech... but ultimately, it comes down to personal choice

and more importantly, welcome!
