Was wondering why the VTC5 wasn't recommend after visiting the website since the discharge rates are the same but the VTC5 has 25% higher capacity. Only 3 bucks more and I'm sure it'll have a much longer lifespan

The VTC5 is a 20A cell that has been misrepresented for a long time. See my test results for more info...

*Whew* I feel better. Thanks. No offense, and not trying to shelve you with the n00bs. If you know about batts, you'll understand why I-- why we-- are worried.
Lol yes, while racing I've seen plenty of racing noobs start fires, or run for the door to throw a swollen battery outside before it bursts, because they didn't understand how to charge/discharge properly, or were just careless.

If you're not going to be above 20A then the extra capacity of the VTC5 beats the VTC4. But, at 20A the Samsung 25R beats both of them. :)

Think I'll just go with the VTC4 since it can handle a higher discharge rate and the lower capacity won't be an issue since it'll only be used while at home. My evod will come with me while I'm out of the house just for ease of use.

I'm fairly new to vaping(about 2 mos) but I've been bitten by the bug and want more than what my evod mega can give me. Its great to take with me to work or anywhere else but I like the idea of a mech mod for being able to burn off old juice to change flavors and also for testing my diy juices without having to fill a tank with it.
Any thoughts or info I should know before purchasing one would be appreciated. Thanks

What you are describing sounds like an rda, not a mech mod.
You can use an rda with your existing battery.
an rda is a very simple device

I'm glad you asked that :) I'm having a conversation with @Mooch as I type, and I have given you bad data. He tells me-- he actually does bench tests on this stuff, just like an official scientist or something-- the VTC5s and the SX30s aren't really 30 amp cells, no mater how they're marketed. More like 20. The honest 30 amp cells are the LG HB6, closely followed by the LG HD2 and VTC4. But the capacity for the HB6 is lousy. I stand corrected, and won't make that mistake again. FWIW, I never use anything but VTC4s, and never have. Those are good cells. And the price is half what they were when I started. For some reason I can not link Mooch's bench tests in my sig block, not for want of trying, but they are linked in *his* sig block, above. That's the place to go for the straight skinny on batteries.

Thanks guys, was just looking at his data. And for what I'm doing and for the price, the vtc4 looks like the best option. Which is probably why everyone uses it....lol

    Thx @Mooch
Lol, probably. You're welcome. Have fun, and don't forget to come back and tell us how great you're doing.

I'll make sure to post my setup when I get one. It'll probably be a clone mech and clone RDA just so I don't spend too much since I'm not sure if I'll like it, but I can see my wife getting mad at my spending in the future
    Lol, you're not alone :)

I think I've decided which mod to buy. I found a FUhattan mod with a tobh rda. I've seen several reviews on both and no real negatives that I can find on either piece. Please feel free to give suggestions or advice or just ramble aimlessly as I'm sure I'll pick some good info from that too..lol. Thanks
    Nothing wrong with either.
