Hi y'all...
This forum has been a lot helpful to me.
I have been searching answers for the questions I want to know and it really helped me out.
So please help me with this also guys.
I am getting my first mech tomorrow. It is a promech. I have read some articles about a mech mod including Ohm's law and battery safety. And still, I have some questions.
Can I use INR 18650 battery for a mech???
What are the safety precautions for a mech mod?? What should I care when using a mech? Your help will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks a lot...

With regards.

INR is a model distinguisher, it does not necessarily indicate battery chemistry. What is important is that you choose a good quality battery purchased from a reputable vendor with a sufficiently high amp limit for the wattage you intend to vape at.

I am getting a pro mech.
I hope that you are fully aware that the pro mech is a hybrid-top (direct battery) mech mod. These mods require that the atomizer have an extended center pin in the 510 connector. In other words, there is no center pin in the pro mech, the center pin in the atomizer makes a direct connection to the battery (hence, direct battery). NEVER use a "normal" atomizer on a direct battery mod if you want to keep your face and hands intact. The lack of an insulated center pin increases your odds of hard shorting your battery.

I have purchased a samsung INR.
I would have felt a lot more comfortable if you had said which Samsung INR you purchased. There are several different models that have different specifications.

There is another blog that I wrote that I believe you'll find helpful in addition to the two that Sonicbomb recommended. It has to do with using an Ohm's Law calculator to find the amp draw of the coil you'll be using and whether your battery has enough amps to fire it safely.

Explain it to the Dumb Noob: Ohm's Law Calculations
  • As simple as it is to use, some people have a tough time grasping the concept. Recently revised to be even more simple. Warning: Includes graphic photos of mod explosions.

Agree, but the atty 510 in the mid picture wouldn't be ok on a hybrid in my book. Depending on the mechanical stresses put on the battery by the switch/mod it can deform slightly over time and when you're unlucky you get a short. Combined with people who keep their batteries for years that's not a good recipe.
Pin should protrude like on the left picture and best also have a protruding insulator. Wouldn't recommend anything else to someone buying a hybrid for the 1st time (and apparently 1st mech as well).

I've seen batteries in all sorts of scary states from people who I thought knew better, with people I don't personally know I don't imagine they'd all be exemplary battery keepers.

I fully agree with your observations, @untar . I only included the above pic because it was extremely difficult to find hardly any images on Google Images of atty's with an extended 510 pin.
