If you want my opinion just make sure its a company with great history and customer service. I used to think that meant US made, but 2 companies changed my mind.

Not that there arent other modders making great safe devices, but these 2 go above and beyond in their dedication to after sale help. They dont spit out a new version weeks after a launch of their supposed best of the best.... They dont do bad design upgrades because it was flawed to start with.
THey hardly ever have "problem devices" but if they do they take care of you with no hassles, no questions, no pointing the blame on the users.
The price point of these 2 is also pretty good. GUS mods offers free shipping and it gets here pretty fast, even from Europe. If not in a hurry usually 10 days? Or you can pay a bit extra and get it faster.
GP offers low priced decent shipping and if you really want it fast , for 15.00 it will be here in 3 working days, most of the time 2.

JM MOds great, but they are dropping their mechs and sticking to their gorgeous regulated boxes.
Metal Madness Vapors (MMV) maker of the Nemesis, great company, great customer service.
Just make sure what ever you decide on has the specs for what style you enjoy. Make sure it has venting features, not always holes, many hide the vents in the switch or top cap. Make sure it is well insulated on top cap and on switch.
Most modders will give you suggested resistance limits and to use IMR batteries only.

The best I have found is the Poldiac, but good luck getting one now. MMV stopped making them, and those available on the market elsewhere are rare and getting real pricey.
King or ChiYou. Best all around for beginners. But please read up before buying any mech mod. Know the limitation of your mod and atty.

You can still find them for sale around the web, and VaporAuthority has some.
I just wouldn't recommend it to a beginner. The side fire button is not as easy to work on as say bottom fire button on a ChiYou.You never know, what if someone puts it up for sale in the classifieds
Also, many places have the good clones of both, the King and the ChiYou, at great prices. No need to spend it all on a mod and not be able to afford a decent rda/rta to go with it

LOL, I know what you mean, it does have a lot of bits and bobs. Side buttons do throw a new loop in the whole thing too.
Ive only had one side button and it was a bit difficult to figure out how to put it all back together. I dont have it anymore, too much for me to deal with these bad hands of mine. I have trouble getting things screwed back on so the less maintenance I have to do, the better.
The Polidiac has tempted me many times, but I never bit. Now that its hard to find I regret not picking one up when MMVapors had them brand new for like 50.00?
Since you mentioned the Manhattan, how about a Fuhattan? Sure, it's the v1 clone, but it's a heck of a good little mech at a very reasonable price and dead simple.
Yes I did, I just replaced the contact screw and adjustment screw in the bottom of the switch and it was back to normal. It's vaping like a champ again, but I can't figure out what's wrong with the screws I took out of it.
I beg to differ sir. My first mech was a side button and I loved it. I tried bottom button mechs for a while, and didn't much care for them. I think a beginner can push a side button as easily as they can a bottom button, perhaps even easier. You just pick up the mech, rest your thumb on the button, and press. What's hard about that?

She was referring to the fact that the switch is finicky, and requires user servicing to clean and adjust, and you are recommending the device to a new mech user.
They also aren't the best mods to use with sub ohm builds, which are popular these days.
Combined with the fact that they aren't being made any more, there are a lot better mods for a beginner, before jumping on an out of production collectible.
Indeed, the Poldiac is a fine mod, but button disassembly and reassembly is a bit tricky compared to a bottom switch mod, especially for someone who's not familiar with tinkering with their mods. Definitely horses of different colors.
