I'm wanting to learn to build my coils and waqs told when building and using coils under 1.0 that I can only use mechanical mods, well I have the kts telescopic storm and have used it with kanger 2.1 ohm coils and never had a problem...... until today I used a new battery (Panasonic 18650 2900mah 10amp) the second I pushed the button to use it it burnt my finger bad, the battery does not look damaged after I checked and I have been using all the time on my Innokin svd, does anyone know why I had this problem? p.s. it is an unprotected battery which I was told is ok to use because its a new Hybrid and it's only 1.5 months old

You need to know how many amps your battery can supply, not an easy thing to do so you may have to look around. Next you will need an ohm meter to determine the resistance of your atty, it is not good enough to follow some instructions that say the build will be whatever ohms since you could build it wrong or have a short if you installed it wrong. Next you need to use an Ohm's law calculator, google it, to find how many ams will be required for your build with a fresh battery at 4.2 volts. Compare the amps required to the amps available and leave a margin for safety.

If its safe and still gets hot then something is wrong. Find it before you hurt yorself.

I was using an 18350 in the same mod within seconds of switching to the Panasonic and had no problems, I had just pulled the 10 amp Panasonic out of my svd and was having no problem in that mod but when I put it in the mech mod it burnt my finger. Is there any way to check this battery to see if its good still? like I said it worked great in my SVD but not my mechanical.

First and foremost whoever gave you the idea that sub 1.0ohm vaping can ONLY be done on a mechanical mod just stay away from that person. Don't listen to anything he has to say, don't take any advice from this person. In fact don't even vape on any of his devices. The advice he's giving you is wrong and the last thing this community needs is an uneducated vaper giving advice to another uneducated vaper to continue the trend we seem to be on lately.

Secondly a 10amp battery is not enough for sub-ohm builds BUT it should NOT get hot immediately after pulsing the fire button. You may, or may not have a short. Either way if it heats up that fast STOP USING IT. Inspect everything take the mech and the atomizer apart and check for shorts triple check the ohm reading and make sure everything looks correct before you try to play with it again. Dump that Panasonic battery and buy a Sony VTC4 or VTC5 and for god's sake please ask questions here before doing or buying anything on impulse.
