I feel as if mech mods are not really the best way to go now that there are high wattage box mods. Then again it seems like all the pros out there making videos and cloud chasing are still using mech mods. So if I was to buy one for when I'm ready to go down that road what mech mod to buy and with all the clones which clones are actually good to go with?

    I prefer Mechs for aesthetic reasons , no regulated device offers the feel or reliability of a mech . I won't make a recommendation by model without knowing more about it's intended use but in general look for clones made by Hcigar , Infinity or by Shenxi for the higher quality clones .

    I agree. Mech mods look great, and feel great in the hand. I won't knock my SX350 box though. Rarely
    do I use wattages over 40, and the box mod lasts all day with a .4-.5 build running at 25 watts. While I
    carry a spare battery or two when taking a mech. Comes down to having the right tools
    for the job, I guess. I'm a cloud chase spectator, at best. :)

    Mechs are good for backup,
    and for having places to store your batteries and other toppers!

    I have
    a few chiyou's, a king, and an astro(telescopic); all are m21x1 threaded. same thread as on vamo and zmax

    a nemesis and a stingray; they use different threads in different places, and the threads between the two are not compatible except the bottom cap I think.
    the stingray has a loose centerpin

    a poldiac which I lent out to a friend starting out; it's top fired.
    the theads are compatible with nemesis tubes

    two cheap aluminium mods:
    m16 sentinel and privatev2; the threads are different and different from each other;
    the m16 sentinel is the only one I have which has a spring loaded center pin.
