haha yeah i originally switched to vaping for lower cost, didnt even care much about the health aspect. now that im looking at mods im budgeting most of my money for vaping. i wanted to buy an aspire atlantis with the k box but the owner at the shop told me they werent compatible. now doing my own research iv seen threads of people using exactly that setup. the owner also told me i was putting my plume veils cap on wrong and then he proceeded to place it on so the dual coil slots were in front of the posts and the bottom airholes in the base were covered. he also told me an average mech mod is equivalent to a 70-100w box mod. when i first bought a mech mod about a year ago, a different shop owner gave me a paragon mod with the same plume veil im using today but didnt really tell me much about it besides how to drip it and charge the battery(i assumed it basically worked like a big ego with a removable battery). the mod ended up breaking a week later(to be fair i dropped it at one point). im starting to really distrust b and m shop owners. i mean i get now that everyone should educate themselves on this stuff first but when i got my first mech i had no idea how complicated they actually were. idk, seems like there should be some kind of accrediting organization type thing for shop owners so you actually know which shops are truly knowledgeable/responsible.

btw when your just vaping normally(like not going for clouds), whats the max wattage you guys generally use? im just wonderring whether its worth it to spring for a sigelli 100 next month or just spend the money on custom coils, more juice and a quality tank

Not all shop owners or veterans will lead you in the same way. However, with the rave in the vape industry now, there are suckers who are all out to squeeze you dry. Always, always watch online videos from the veterans and seek out assistance from all the experienced people out here. Telling you that the setup does not match at all is utter BS. Even if it is maximum 30 watts I can still do subohms. You just need to be careful about the limits you go to, and everything has its own risks.

As for your question on on wattage, it really depends on what resistance you are on. There are online charts to assist you. As for PVs do check out online reviews and videos for the ratings. Some PVs can be real cheap but better than expensive ones. Unless you are a collector, all you need is a primary PV and a secondary for backup, a couple of tanks for different flavors. The ready-built tanks nowadays are equally as good as the RBAs. Again, unless you are into building and saving the hassle of stocking up on replacement coils, you do not need an RBA at all.

Go for the subtank. I am using both of them now if you look at my signature. Those little things are real beasts. At .5ohms, just 25-30watts I got my colleague complaining that he can't see his laptop screen because of the vapor (HAHAHA!). And the flavor is definitely awesome. And the coils are actually the ready-built ones. I didn't even have to use my RBA. I only use my RBA when I want to hit exactly .8 or .9 ohms which is my all time fav setup as the vape is not too warm. I have heard many complaining about that product, but I have so far not experienced even a single flaw from it. I didn't even have to spend like more than 5mins on building. IMO I love it more than any other expensive ones I have used before.

I used the Atlantis before and it is pretty good as well. The only thing is that it is not really an RBA except that it can be if you wish to go through the hassle of it. I have tried it and seriously the original ready-built coils are much better. Atlantis is a real cloud chaser, but flavor wise it loses to the K subtanks.

so i picked up a k box 40 watt the other day and i was thinking about getting a mechanical mod as well. my question is, would an average mechanical mod be more powerful than my kbox?
A mech can have infinite power. You should limit it to the continuous discharge rate of your batteries though. So if you are using 20A high-drain batteries, its more safe to stay above .21 ohm, which would be about 80 watts at full charge. Technically, though, it is quite possible to go even lower. Many people go lower even with a single battery, but that could be dangerous if something happened like the switch got stuck and you were unaware that the atty was self-firing. If you had a dual parallel mech box, you are looking at 160 watts safely possible with two 20A batteries. Two 30A batteries could get close to 250 watt.
