Man oh man, going to use that line next time I let someone vape any of my mods, Sure bud, take a vape, but I do have to warn you, be very, very careful. Don't hold that button down to long, or she will blow!!!! When I had a mod that the switch would start blinking when battery needed changing, I'd yell, look out she's going to blow. Or sometime I'd see it blink, then set it down and say, ok, don't touch, have the ant-theft protection activated.

Did you hear the one about the guy who robbed a bank with a Provari? lmao. stupid ignorant people crack me up sometimes.

With the proper care, battery, and knowledge, vaping is quite safe. Lacking any one of those 3 things, yeah, stupid chit happens.

Thanks for hanging in there and reading the more helpful posts. E-cig users are under a lot of stress since there are a lot of people trying to outlaw and demonize these things that we've all come to see as lifesaving devices. Your original post had the same tone and verbiage of the kind of propaganda and baiting we've all grown so tired of, and it just struck a nerve. A troll, by the way, is an old internet meme which refers to someone who goes on a forum or chatroom and says deliberately infuriating and/or confrontational things in order to simply create chaos. Sometimes, people new to a particular forum who haven't spent some time reading it before posting, and thus getting a feel for what's common and acceptable language, can do this without meaning to. It might help you further if you would read the stickies about posting and using this forum. A quick search would have given you all the answers to all your questions, without the drama. Welcome to the internet, and welcome to ECF. :)

Thank you so much and I apologize if my post came off trollish lol. I'm taking a composition class in college and everything we write for that class can't just short, sweet, simple, and to the point; we have to elaborate immensely on the topic, use references, and go into great detail on why we feel the way we do about the topic. Just a force of habit to write like this so sorry. I have never ever in my life posted in a forum until I posted in this one a few days ago so I'm trying to get the hang of it! Just give me some time and I'll be a pro ;)

One thing everyone should keep in mind is that the media always has an agenda. Be it political, sensational, or otherwise.

The number 1 reason why we are seeing so many stories about 'electronic cigarettes' is because of the controversy surrounding them. Anytime controversy enters into the equation, sensationalism does too.

For example, I've seen reports on cell phone batteries exploding, laptop batteries exploding, and other high tech devices that are powered by lithium-ion batteries. I haven't turned on the news once and seen a debate about laptops.

Nobody calls the news when their cell phone vents, or their laptop malfunctions. But anytime a vaping device fails, it immediately gets played up and turned into a sensational piece for your local 5 o'clock. They want you to watch.

So the answer is simple: Don't.

Don't what?

I don't have a mech nor do I want one; it's my husband that wants one but since we have 2 small children and having heard all i'v heard about mechs I said no atleast until we get edcuated on them and that''s all I'm essentially trying to do with some added discussion bc this is after all a forum on all things vaping. I didn't know that my post would offend so many people. Some of these folks are acting like I've harmed or spoken horribly about their baby or something lol
Don't let rude people get to you. I don't think you were trolling or trying to upset anyone. I think these people are wrong for jumping down your throat. Nothing wrong with asking questions and trying to be informed and safe before you/your husband try something new. As long as you've done your research and use the mod/batteries the way they are intended to be used I don't see you having a problem. :)

No apologies necessary, B. I totally understand and sympathize, and I'd say you're doing just fine. :)

The sensational stuff the media put out there just to grab a headline and get better ratings :). Once you become aware of it, it's amazing how often this happens. I rarely watch TV news these days, prefer to get my news online where I can immediately check facts, get another opinion, etc.

The local news did a segment on one of the local B & M shops here recently. They intentionally interviewed the youngest sales girls (who are in their early 20's, but could pass as older teens) on what their favorite flavors are. Then they slanted their news story to, "E-cigs attract children and teens with their candy and fruity flavors"

This B & M has always carded everyone who looks under 30 and it is strictly enforced. Of course the reporter left that part out.

Deja vu! I saw a similar story here, without the interviews but clearly with the exact same intent, to say that the flavors are for kids. Ours had a local politician (who was leading the fight to close the store) standing in front of the place pointing out that you could see a high school from its doorstep, more 'proof' that the e-cig industry were basically child-baiting predators. I was, to put it mildly, enraged. Ignorant, shameless propaganda.

Thank you to the members that saw a new member that needed help and information.

It would be nice if we didn't automatically assume that an unfortunate first post meant that a new member was a plant by an ANTZ (Anti Nicotine and Tobacco Zealot).

Remember to treat people like you yourself would like to be treated. Thank You :)

To the OP (original poster = Blaine) Welcome to the forum. As you can see, we have many different personalities here. I'm very happy that you have gotten some of the answers you are looking for. Please stick around, learn, and try to enjoy the experience.
