Mechanical mods...no ego connector, what is the reason for it?

Historically, there was no practical purpose to eGo threading. When eGo batteries were introduced the only devices being used were the much smaller diameter 510 attys and cartos. The only purpose eGo threading served was to screw a tapered cone (cover) onto the battery that covered up that rather klunky look and smoothly bridged the difference between a tiny 510 carto or atty attached to the larger diameter eGo. In other words, when eGo threading was introduced it was all about form and served no real function.

I don't think it's been adopted on mechanicals for the similar reasons. Although you can make an argument that it might make for a sturdier mechanical connection, trying to do that in both a universal and esthetically pleasing manner on mechanicals to fit all RDA's might not be so easy either.
