Damn those posts totally just scared me. I guess i'll just stay away from sub ohm coils for now. I honestly just wanted to explore other ways of vaping. I admit I haven't been doing much research on the dangers of sub ohm coils because I never knew they existed. I'm glad I posted a thread here. Thank you. I will definitely do more research on this topic. I feel like i've embarrassed myself.

Don't feel embarrassed! This is all about learning. Hell when I first started I didn't know the difference between a cart and a carto, or the fact that I didn't have either one because I started out with an eGo-T.

The idea behind the "scare tactics" and exploding battery video is to make people think, and understand that learning about this stuff before trying it is important. For example most of the time folks come on here not even understanding that the size of the air hole is important, or the fact that most RBA's come with an air hole designed for a 2.5 ohm coil.

I personally think that RBA's are the greatest thing since clean socks, but only with a good understanding of proper power and airflow management. What resistance/voltage/air flow is right is as subjective as juice flavors, but most people will be able to find that "sweet spot" without ever going to sub ohm vaping. So we end up back with my original question, "why do you want to?" If it's just because someone else thinks it's a cool thing to do, that's the wrong reason.

Because people are often too lazy to click a link, let me copy and paste the warnings: :danger:

    "Please Note:

    * This is an advanced vaping device. DO NOT purchase if you are not comfortable or experienced with this.

    * There are no returns on this product including claims of DOA "Dead on Arrival". You build the atomizer so if it does not work or damages your battery or causes any other harm AquaVapor LLC is not responsible.

    * Please note very carefully that rebuildable atomizer coils and wicks have risks and you must have experience doing this before attempting to use this device.

    * Rebuildable atomizers are for experts, not average or beginner vapers with no multimeter or knowledge of how to use a meter, or when a meter must be used, or how electronic devices work. These materials cannot safely be used by the inexperienced or those without basic knowledge of electronics.

    This is because:

    1. A rebuildable coil/wick MUST be tested carefully with a meter before it is used.

    2. If it is not built correctly and not tested it is entirely the risk of the user.

    3. Faulty wicks/coils WILL blow electronic devices.

    4. New coil/wick units must be tested and then used first on a device that has short circuit protection.

    5. No new coil/wick assembly should be used on an electronic device until known to be safe.

    6. These items destroy electronic devices if not built and tested properly.

My first mech mod was a K100. I like it. It was around $40 or $50. I had little knowledge of sub ohm vaping when I got into mech mods, RDA's. and RBA's. I have spent a lot of time at my local vape shop asking questions and watching them wrap coils. I still go in and ask one of the experienced guys wrap my coils until I feel completely comfortable wrapping my own. They even told when I bought the current setup I have now to come in with any questions and come in when I needed my rda re wrapped. So far, so good, I haven't had any major problems.
