So, yay me, I thought by purchasing the sigelei 24 with the button guard I would avoid trouble. I guess not.
Got home, set down sigelei 24, heard a hissing sound and smelled burnt vapor. Picked up my mod and it was searing hot. Immediately rotated it so the button was free. Used an oven mitt to slowly and carefully carry it to the kitchen. First unscrewed the kanger (set at 1.5 ohms so it isn't an issue of subohms). Looks fine but I bet the coil needs a rebuild. Carefully disassembled the sigelei with the oven mitts to find a steaming, partially melted battery.
Gently laid it on a plate and carried it outside to cool all the while keeping something over my face in case it blew. Now, this is a Sony vtc5, so I'm assuming this thing had been running for a while.
So I learned the button is not that well protected. The mod itself has some mild sludge on it. Question is, if I clean it up, and by the way what's the best way to do that, is it okay? Here's a pic of the worst of it.
