As some of you might have seen - there is another thread here regarding melting carts... (you can just google it) A lot of people did report that they saw the edges of their carts melt slightly, which means you are inhaling a little burnt plastic... 8-o Does not seem too healthy  I noticed the same on my 510 carts and I do *align* them with the bridge...

Take a look at your carts - do you notice the same?

What do you think is the best solution?

Heard you could use 901 carts on 510 - does that solve the problem?

Trimming 510 carts???

Switch to 901??? (510 atties seem to be getting hotter than 901).

Please share your experiences and *solutions*.

I'm surprised there's not a metal or ceramic cartridge available. Some material that will not melt and doesn't transfer heat well. Maybe glass or pyrex? They would last forever and you would not get this melted plastic fumes.

Also, I've noticed once you scorch a cartridge, the spot where it melted a bit gets very very thin, making it much more prone to further melting. Does trimming the cart actually help at all? I've thought of this, but I think I've also read where someone had and it didnt help at all.

I have noticed this as well with the polyfill... does it do this when you align it properly?

I just aligned a cart properly using the blue foam I will smoke this like there's no tomorrow and see if it melts.

I guess you could trim them.. but they should make some that don't melt.

Trim or maybe a METAL cart would be nice.

A hot atty is a good thing.

Maybe they only melt when your sucking dry we should figure this out though it cannot be healthy to inhale plastic.

Odd...mine are fine. I have been using the same 3 carts for the last 1.5 months with no melting at all. I vape a lot and the atomizer does get very hot sometimes. Could it be due to letting the cart get to dry? I tend to keep mine very wet since I do not like even a vague burnt taste.

Are the melting ones whistle or round? Where are they from?

I use the whistle type and the only thing I notice are the teeth marks from holding it in my mouth. 8-o

I think its improper alignment ... I've been toking the crap out of this with tons of vapor and it's not melting... It's either improper alignment user error or the polyfil.. proper alignment with the blue foam and no melting so far...

A metal cart does seem safer anyways I mean everything else is metal......

These cartridges cost enough as it is, they should be metal,.......and while they're at it, make 'one size fits all' cartridges.

Alright, alright, I feel the cartridges cost too much but metal ones would cost more. But if they were a dollar apeice/empty--that'd be alright.

I don't think 2.99 for a 5 pack is expensive, and would gladly pay double or triple for a 5 pack of carts that won't melt.

I posted on another thread that it must be the heat sort of burning the actual cart. 510 here too and couldn't pinpoint where it came from. It literally makes you nausea's inhaling it. Maybe it's a design flaw or something having the heating element that close to plastic. The ideal thing would be be a cart made out of metal and the inards of cotton just replace. Going to clean out the atty now and see if it gets rid of that for now. And a new cart.

Taking shorter hits makes a lot of sence, heat and plastic isn't a good combo.

If you drip, you can leave off the cart entirely. I've done this and it's pretty good. Sometimes the juice gets on your lips though which is kind of a bummer.

I just trimmed all but the end bit that goes inside the atty off a cart and the cart fits in fine. It's going to be more likely to fall out or get knocked out, but it's still a tight fit. I don't think it's going to melt at all that far away from the atty.

Aside from metal carts, another solution would be carts that go over the atty instead of inside of it. I've seen some manufacturers with this design.
