I've tried ekowool with SS mesh core, but it left me with a too large diameter wick.

Tried just mesh, tasted great, but it would go dry with no warning, and produce absolutely horrible dry hits. I know it's a user error, but still :)

My favorite use of SS is a small diameter SS wick, with microcoil on it. Then stuff the opposite side of the chamber with cotton for filler. Leaves a nice buffer, doesn't dry out mid-toot, and doesn't seem to hinder flavor too much. That's my set up for when I don't feel like messing with real cotton wicks, i.e. when I go away from the house for more than a few days.

Trying to picture this but it isn't registering. Does the cotton touch the mesh wick?

The dry hit with mesh after a single pull sounds like maybe the wick ends aren't making contact with the ceramic base to feed off the little "pool"that forms after a squeeze. I could be totally wrong. Just a guess..

^^This. With super high VG and the one end of the wick touching the cup... Enough juice sticks to the wick and cup to get me 8-12 goot toots before needing to squonk again. This, of course, is also allowing a short bit between toots for the juice to re-wick.

Did you get the bobas and gorilla juice Eddie?

Figure 30 minutes for a month's use...that included getting everything out and ready..well worth it imho.

What really seems to start to happen around 30 days is the actual wire in the coil thins out making the resistance higher therefore causing the "legs"to heat prior to the coil I guess because they are less resistance...Just a poorly explained observation lacking any real technical terms...

Yep, that's 24mg...

Maybe 5 minutes to make a 2inch length of my stuff some trial and error time to start but have a simple fast process now I'm guessing I will get at least a month out of it and I have multiple wicks made now just cut a bit off and wallla :)

You can see where the dremel frayed one end and the other didn't cut evenly. Need cable cutters. Also that's the thinnest of the 3 sizes I have and its thicker than the coil. I'm almost positive it listed as 1/16 cable. So a genuine micro coil wouldn't work. It's the thinnest avid vaper had at the time.

Yep,1/16.. http://www.avidvaper.com/stainless-cable-coil-wick/

cut slower keep the dremel as fast as possible and cut slow Ive worked with this cable a lot and it is tricky but can be done I have cutters now but they are way too big for this small stuff
