Sandy,or
So the coil holds the wick (which I also need to roll Tighter) "floating" in the wick hole WITHOUT letting it touch the sides.
Any way to insulate the hole??
In my experience, if the coil is not shorting on the wick, I.e. hot spots, there is very little chance of a short from the wick to the wick hole. The oxidisation has effectively isolated the wick, preventing conductivity, at least for the most part. For example, without the wick it might meter out at 1.5, then drop to 1.3 with the wick in. Once the hot spots are out, it goes back up to 1.5, meaning you aren't getting resistance from the deck.
If you want to try it insulated, the grommet from the bottom of a ce4 head fits, but it leaves an awfully thin wick, and you have to leave the fill screw out to avoid suction shutting the wicking down completely.
This is just my two cents, I'm no electrician! I've been running mine with ss mesh and rope for about six months, and never had a hard short. I currently use cotton, no shorts, better flavor, but I have to change it out about every two tanks.
Happy vaping!

Unless your coil is shorting against the wick, it's impossible for the wick to short against the wick hole or tank bottom. There should be no current passing through the wick, and with no current passing through the wick it doesn't matter what it's touching.

If the wick does short out against the wick hole or tank bottom, that means your coil is shorting against the wick. A wick shorting in the wick hole is a symptom of a problem (coil shorting against wick) not the problem itself.
