Not even sure if this is what you call a Clapton but since I'm not much of a sub ohm guy I wrapped a 32g kanthal around a 30g kanthal. 6 wrapps around a 2mm rod. The ohms came out to 1.6 to 1.8 ( ohms still jumping around everything is tight) Slapped her on my subtank mini rba, vaping at about 4.5 V. Great flavor! Ramp up time wasn't as bad as I thought , I'm usually a 3to 4 sec puffer, takes about 7-8 seconds to feel a good hit. Vapor production is meh. Next time I'll try it at 5 wrapps and get my coil wrapped more nicely. Using an ipvd2 right now, might throw it on my radius and see how she vapes. So anyone else mess around with high ohm claptons?

Just tried a clapton 32/26 in a STM and it ohms out to .7 ohms at 7 wraps at 2.5 I think. Would be very interested in higher ohm builds although this is pretty good. I generally have been at .9 to 1.7 ohms for my mainstay contact coils so would lke to find some premade Clapton wire in the higher ohm range but dont really want to make it myself. I dont think I can make it as nice as premade. Do you have aby suggestions?

are you concerned with the wrapping part or the clapton wire making part? im a horrible coil wrapper but as far as making the clapton wires its a breeze if you have a hand drill and use the pen trick in this youtube vid, best part is no swivels needed.

Also, almost forgot to ask if the clapton coils should be cotact or spaced coils, I made mine as contact as i could and it came out good. Just wondering what you found best. I guess I should get on the main clapton thread and research but dont have the time right now so thanks.
I made mine a contact coil. Not much room on the subtank rba. The core wire I used was just a single wire but I imagine if you used a twisted wire as the core your ohms will be lower. Was trying to stay above 1.2 ohms so I went with just a single 30 gauge core and used 32 gauge as my wrap.

I twisted 42ga around a 28 the other night, my phone's zoom can't even really show the wire correctly.

But 32 or 34 around 28 should work great for you.

Only way I could get a decent pic of the wire was to wrap and snap another pic. -

No idea where those little fibers are from, I can't even see them with the naked eye. :D

Great video. I really want to start making my own clapton wire. Although i do love getting a nice roll of premade clapton wire and getting ready to hitch the wire onto the spool, only to have it slip out and watch in horror as the spool starts to un-spool with the fury of a category 5 hurricane charged weed whacker.
haha i hate that to. try a few rubber bands around it
