"metamorphic" e-juice

Just something I wanted to bounce of you guys: have you discovered that ejuice's taste and/or vape better after they've sat for a couple days? What in the world is up with that? I have come to realize that this has happened with several different kinds I've had, (and from different vendors). One tasted horrible until about 3 days after I got it, and another produced hardly any vapor until it was a few days old as well. I have pretty much ruled out that it's because of any atty issue. My atty's were functioning fine, and it wasn't with the same ones. I've also heard if you shake them up it can make a difference. Anyone have any ideas as to what causes this? Since there are no chemicals in them per'se, mixing and/or sitting shouldn't matter...ideas?

yeah they seem to change as they age guess its a chemical thang. i've had juices that taste better after sitting a week

Yes. I've noticed this especially with DIY juice. Perhaps the pre-mixed juice is too fresh upon delivery, sometimes.

Oh yes! I've noticed this too! Unfortunately there are some juices that never make the change from the dark-side. Maybe some are like wine...

Yup! This does happen. Personally, I have got into the habit of "airing" my juices when they arrive. Open the bottle squeeze the air out, let it pull in new air, then reseal. Also, with my DIY Butter Rum, I let it sit away from direct sun for about a week before using it. If I dont the flavor is hit or miss. I guess this allows it time for the flavoring to bond/integrate properly with the PG/Nic.

thanks for the input, guys. i have been really curious about that, since it has been remarkable for me with 2-3 liquids in particular. one vendor i asked about it thought it could only be due to the atty's involved, but i totally disagreed. vaporphreak, what about adding the air do you think makes a difference? i guess w/these factors, we really can't judge a juice until it's like, 3-4 days old? weird...but still lots of fun!

I'm one of those that always shakes up my juice before I use it just to make sure it's mixed up, I've always done this. I have some juices that as they sit they get better with time too. I don't mind this at all but always make sure and shake before I use

I always shake mine as well. And I really, really try to allow them to sit for a week. Somehow a few have managed to get totally vaped within a week though. Especially samples (3ml) and 5ml juices.

My working theory is that over time the flavorings and pg and whatever else is added bind more fully together, which would naturally create some form of gas. Or maybe its just evaporated juice... either way i have noticed that if a juice is going to change... this makes it happen much quicker. Not sure exactly why this works... but its worked for me.

Yup, letting them sit, like everyone else said.. seems to the trick! (sometimes)
Like this butterscotch cheesecake DIY, it was really bland and disappointing at first.. tried it today and love it!

what about this...if we mix, lets say, 2 juices together after they've "settled" would the combination then need to sit too, or would it already be ripe for the vaping w/the desired taste? gosh, we ARE obsessed

This is true. I recently bought some bubblegum flavor that on the first day absolutely nauseated me from the flavor and taste. I gave up on it really quick and 6 days later decided to give it another try. And on that day I loved it and I haven't put it down since-- and also bought 4 more bottles of it heh

Some vendors say that certain juices of theirs need to steep for a while to achieve the right flavor...I think tastyvapor had a few that needed a little time to reach their peak taste. It probably has something to do with the different flavorings having time to really mix.

I have noticed that some juices will separate a bit so as a rule I shake before I drip or fill.
